Ok - so - here's the scene.

You can have any drivers from any era. You can have any car from any era. Who/what would you pick for the ULTIMATE F1 team?

Here's mine:

The 1988 McLaren MP4/4

Ayrton Senna
Jim Clark

Way too many to really choose, so I'll pick 1 that most won't consider:

1992 Williams FW14
Nigel Mansell
Lewis Hamilton

(Champion gets replaced by Williams next season! :p )

Lewis Hamilton

Drivers: Gilles Villeneuve and Ronnie Peterson - Both the fastest drivers out there of their heydays, amazing car control, stilish behind the wheel, and most of all, both gentlemen.

Car: 1967 Lotus 49, in its classic green and yellow, pure Cosworth sound, unadultered slides, beautiful outside view of driver on the cockpit.

Just dreaming... beautiful thread, TY.

:) Dino

2005 McLaren with a Ferrari engine and gearbox. Jean Todt & Ross Brawn on the pitwall, Newey in charge of developing the car. Michelin slicks, JPS livery with Senna and Prost as the drivers. Kimi would be the media / PR person. Adrian Sutil handles security armed with a broken champagne glass.

Probably:

Fangio
Clark
Senna

*one of those will be the test/development driver :drunk:

as for the rest it has to be Newey and Horner.

From the past years, the 2002, 2004, 2011 combos were close to "ultimate" in my opinion. I'd replace the "2nd driver" by Senna in each case to spice it up. :)

Oh this is so good yet so hard. choices choices..

McLaren MP4/4

Drivers, oh dear so so many good options, very hard choice indeed.

Francois Cevert

and, well for the 2nd seat its a toss up between Clark, Senna, Rindt, Schumi and JYS.

I'll go with Ayrton Senna

Since Ferrari are pushing for three car teams; Felipe Baby will be the third driver.

Stella will be drivers engineer for both Mike and Fred. Felipe and Rob will be together again. Thanks for pointing that out.

Then you need a Brazilian in the mix, so Rubens would be the better pick. Plus if Kimi wanted to go rallying again, you have a guy who has the ability to be a decent lead driver until you hire a better guy.

1955 Mercedes W196 (but it must come with the blue Mercedes Rennwagen schnelltransporter)

Juan Manuel Fangio

Gilles Villeneuve

Audrey Hepburn and Jessica Alba to keep the lap charts.

Adrian Newey for aerodynamicist (though what he would make of a W196 is an interesting question!)

Frank Williams as team boss.

Extremely strong #1 driver like MSC with great supporting driver who in general is not butt-hurt to be #2, i.e. Irvine / Webber / Coulthard / etc.

1998 McLaren MP4/13. Remember how fast that McLaren actually was? In the very right hands, it would be scary such as prime Schu and Senna.
1998 vintage Michael Schumacher.

1988 vintage Ayrton Senna.

Something special, indeed.

Schu was in his finest prime in 1998 and Senna was Senna.

RB6, Senna and Hakkinen for utter domination

or

Senna and Raikkonen in the MP4-2C to see how their completely different approaches would work in a very competitive but not dominant car in days overtaking was perfectly possible.
