Izod Indycar Series Rounds 8 of 19: TEXAS
Which one? The oval.

Race length: 228 laps
Previous winner: Justin Wilson
Yay racing cars!
I hope everyone had fun last weekend. We had two entertaining Indycar races: one was traditionally entertaining and the other was entertaining even though hardly anyone crashed. Mike Conway was having one of the "on" weekends that have punctuated his career and generally drove like he had one of those yellow stars from Mario Kart. Will Power and Scott Dixon put their championship challenges off for yet another weekend and 2012's Lovely Simon Pagenaud won his first Indycar race despite looking slower than his rookie teammate season.
This weekend we head to the site of 2012's Best Motor Race (any category), the first oval-shaped oval of the season, where there's more banking than the City of London and where no one knows the exact technical regulations until the afternoon of the race. And there's even a special appearance from the NASCAR Truckasaurus Racing Series, featuring Darrell 'Bubba' Wallace, Ron 'Horny' Hornaday and a Busch who makes George W. look popular. Actually he's not racing, so we'll have to make do with John Wes Harding instead. That's on Friday. At night.

Up, apparently.

What the photo doesn't show is that these cars are in fact motionless
News? THERE IS NO NEWS.
I assume everyone's still reeling from Will 'And Representation' Power's bons mots and glove throwing at Sebastien Hornadais. I'm sure there'll be some scandal or technical disaster cropping up between now and Saturday evening. Just remember. Will nearly won this one last year before a blocking penalty sent him back through the order. And despite the urban myth, he has won on an oval before, at Texas back in 2011. It's probably one of the few tracks left that he hasn't experienced unusual bad luck at. So he'll get taken out by the pace car, then.
Whatever. Enjoy. Comment. Obsess over the invisible thread by which the Fates hold a driver's race. Just do it below. Down there.
