Shocked there isn’t a thread done already, so let’s get the ball rolling.

The Weather Channel:

23 Celsius
50% Change of rain
18 km/h wind speed.

Row 1
1. Sebastian Vettel Germany Red Bull-Renault
2. Lewis Hamilton Britain Mercedes-Mercedes

Row 2
3. Valtteri Bottas Finland Williams-Renault
4. Nico Rosberg Germany Mercedes-Mercedes

Row 3
5. Mark Webber Australia Red Bull-Renault
6. Fernando Alonso Spain Ferrari-Ferrari

Row 4
7. Jean-Eric Vergne France Toro Rosso-Ferrari
8. Adrian Sutil Germany Force India-Mercedes

Row 5
9. Nico Hulkenberg Germany Sauber-Ferrari
10. Kimi Raikkonen + Finland Lotus-Renault

Row 6
11. Daniel Ricciardo + Australia Toro Rosso-Ferrari
12. Sergio Perez Mexico McLaren-Mercedes

Row 7
13. Pastor Maldonado Venezuela Williams-Renault
14. Jenson Button Britain McLaren-Mercedes

Row 8
15. Esteban Gutierrez Mexico Sauber-Ferrari
16. Felipe Massa Brazil Ferrari-Ferrari

Row 9
17. Paul di Resta Britain Force India-Mercedes
18. Charles Pic France Caterham-Renault

Row 10
19. Jules Bianchi France Marussia-Cosworth
20. Max Chilton Britain Marussia-Cosworth

Row11
21. Giedo van der Garde Holland Caterham-Renault
22. Romain Grosjean * France Lotus-Renault

* denotes ten-place grid penalty for causing an accident in Monaco
+ denotes two-place penalty for pit lane rule infraction

How is Bottas going to hold up is one of the main questions I guess. and we have Grosjean, Massa and di Resta on comeback missions.

Looking at the forecast it seems to be a decent day with 23-24 C and feeling like 27-28 : )))
Alonso and Kimi will be quite happy with such weather .
I really cant see Bottas keeping his 3rd place I will even say I cant see him keeping top 10 place :o Same for the TorroRosso's drivers

50% chance of rain.... actually, I'd like to see mixed conditions, something similar to what we had today. It's been quite some time since we've seen a surprise winner who had he right tires at the right moment, while the top teams had one or even two stops too many.

I really hope this race is good. The last 2 have had me feeling bored. I have rarely seen a bad race in Canada. So hope it continues.

I expect Bottas to drop like a stone... We all know that Williams is a dog car compared to the one they had last year... But still will be interesting to see how far it will go, just hope he gets a decent start.

But I think it will be hard for them to get even into the Top 10 at the end of the race.
Alonso will be nice to follow and also Kimi, love to see both of them fight through the pack.

Should be a entertaining race.. A little unsure of Vettel and Redbull, I just hope they don't scamper off into the distance after a few laps.

mixed conditions = Vettel will win and a 1-2 Red Bull is guaranteed...it won't be a surprise, the RB is far too strong in mixed condition...not sure in full wet.

Actually a dry race will add more excitement in the race... Alonso, Raikkonen, Massa, DiResta, Grosejan will all do very well in dry and their comes back will be excited to watch...

in mixed condition the only way to stop Red bull is if they have mechanical problems or their drivers make mistakes...

The Canadian gp ( and SPA also) are maybe the only races which don't need rain to be exciting races...

The races here used to be at noon now they moved it to 2 PM .. I have been up since 6:30 am this morning .. Clear skies on the east and some heavy gray clouds coming from the west .. I doubt they are carrying any rain and they are moving fast.

Yep So far the skies are blue, might finally be a day without rain. Super stoked about today's race... Hopefully lots of on track action and drama.. I will have the windows open blasting out the best soundtrack to the race. The sound of the 22 engines on track nearby... I feel really lucky living close(5 minutes walk to the waterfront) to one of greatest f1 tracks.

Will be a bit interesting if conditions are mixed - Being out in Q1 might not turn out so bad for DiResta and Grosjean, as most of the front runners will have burned up all their inters in Qualifying.

I'd rather see dry conditions -- as I am interested in seeing how Merc's deg issues are vis a vis, say, Barcelona. I understand nothing definitive can be concluded whatever happens, but it would give some directions for thoughts and opinions on the matter.

And -- Lotus, Ferrari would be more competitive, Vettel running away too soon (in WDC) would be making the rest of the season a let down (of sorts).

Only low note with dry would be Valtteri having hard time to score points.

And if it‘s dry everyone will have a full allocation of brand new options and primes. And there is a short pitlane here, and easy overtaking opportunities at the hairpin and on DRS on the run to the last corner. These factors may make it worthwhile to push a bit more than normal, go for fast laptimes and short stints, making up any track position you lose on the track. Lets hope so, anyway.

Anyone else finding the picture quality quite bad. Watched Qualy on ORF HD channel and the picture was like standard SD pretty unimpressive.

I don't really care who wins but..

1: I'd like Bottas to do well
2: I'd like both Mercs to DNF or finish 11th-12th
3: I'd like an exciting and fun race with incidents but no mammoth crashes and no one hurt.

:)

If Hamilton can take Vettel on lap 1 then I think Alonso will win
Otherwise I don't think Alonso will have enough to to beat Vettel (barring incident ofc)

The run to the first corner isn't very long so Alonso probably won't be able to make up many places at the start.

The weather should play a role today. There are load of clouds in Montreal, but the chance for rain is lower than it was in the previous two days.

It is a very important race for the championship, especially mental. If Alonso loses out, Vettel can shape the favourite for the title, cos every team is about to do the switch from this year's development towards next year's.

Alonso was the best on long runs on Friday, but his Ferrari ate up its tyres when struck behind another car, so Alonso has to overtake the four cars asap to take on the fight with Vettel. He can't afford doing a mistake in the first corner, so I bet he will be cautious and await for the back straights. There are two DRS zones, which is pretty suprising given the long back straight. RB and Ferrari had the upper hand over Mercedes during race distances.
So I bet for Vettel. He can be in cruise mode if Fernando can't make passes over Bottas, Webber, Ham and Ros in the first 6-7 laps, otherwise Vettel would open up too much of a gap.

Normally the big factor is dry/rain, this year temperature is just as big a factor. I think we'll see performances rise/fall throughout the race as the skies darken/clear.

On FP2 the longest run of Bottas was 10 lap, it was 1sec slower compared to Hamilton's laptimes (Bottas high 1:20s, Hamilton high 1:19s - low 1:20s)
Also Hamilton did an 1:18:9 on the last lap of the run, so plenty of life in the tires.
Tho i don't think that means anything.

German press was suggesting yesterday (from Bottas statements after qualifying) that he is using a wet set-up. If it's true, his pace compared with the others will depend a lot on the weather since the same articles suggest almost everybody else was on a dry set-up

A DNF by SV would be good for the championship .... but more likely he will score another win - which will just about kill off the title fight for this season :|

Hopefully Bottas will forget how to brake and DNF Vettel at T1.

Lewis winning from Alonso and Kimi would then open up the points.

Dude, there is like ALOT of points left to be scored... there is still a long way to go. But yea I agree.. would be nice for the championship if he were to DNF today.

But I won't hope for it (Karma) ;p... We just see what happens.

Just love the consistency round here - all last year everyone moaned about him being bland and boring - now he speaks his mind and tells it like it is then thats wrong as well

For a team who's professed aim is 5th in the points, then such mistakes as they have made in the last 2 qualy sessions should be 'totally unacceptable'.
Wonder what Vettel, Hamilton would say in a similar situation and what the reaction on here would be.

Seems to me the team has thrown away more points than he has over the last 18 months or so.

If it is mostly a dry race I hope Williams can finish in the points, if wet or in between Bottas has been looking strong. That's the race within the race I'll be watching. Williams could use some good fortune this year. Overall I always enjoy the Canadian GP looking forward to it!

You don't have to diss the team to be not bland and boring. Sorry, that's an excuse for his behaviour. I am increasingly getting tired of his constant moaning about the team. That is just not on.

To be fair I am not sure who elsethere is to blame - unless its the fairies. In the main it is the team who decides when the driver pits during qualifying and the race, they have (or should have) the big picture. Consistently cocking it up is just not on either.
I guess that having spent most of his racing career with pretty professional teams it must be pretty galling to have the team repeatinmg the same type of mistakes over and over.
