Got to say I'm hugely impressed with this team over the years. Where do they rank in budget terms?
5th-8th area. They're the only team that is doing well and complained about the lack of "cost control"

So Smirnoff is set to be a new major sponsor for the team. Question I have is if Sahara is going to drop or not. We should know tomorrow or Wednesday

According to Dieter Rencken's August 2013 article, they have the 6th highest budget at around GBP 100m, which is more than Sauber and Williams (although Williams break even and they really, really don't).

Yeah I've also heard Force India are always in the negative net side. Sauber is looking worse every year as well.

Great job again Force India! Cracking drivers in Hulk and Perez.

Where/how did you pick up on that? Are Sahara going to sell their stake already?

Aha.
…but Diageo is still with McLaren, right?

yes with Johnnie Walker. I remember Mallya having connections with Diageo as well so they're going with the vodka it appears

This is confusing:
The partnership will see Smirnoff branding featured on the VJM07s of Sahara Force India drivers from next weekend's Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. Logos will appear on the rear wing and top of the chassis, with branding on the sidepods at key races.
So not all races?

Well, there's little use for Smirnoff in paying sidepod money at for example Abu Dhabi...This is confusing:

I don't think Smirnoff are paying are they?
Edit: Ignore the above - maybe they are paying. I read somewhere that Diageo bought part of Mallaya's United Breweries and this branding was due to them not getting repayment on loans or something (I can't even remember where I read it, probably some nonsense on twitter ), however according to this article http://www.f1times.c...s/display/08811 the sponsorship could be worth £9 million a year so that's pretty good going for Force India

Why would it be of little use? The race will still be broadcast in countries where you can drink Smirnoff with every meal if you choose to, just like every other event.

I dont think they can advertize alcohol there, so that might be the problem. Not sure do

I know Kingfisher has been on the Force India cars in years past. And Kimi had one in victory pictures from two years ago.
Not saying you're wrong, but I imagine the government can choose who the rules apply to. Kind of like how they allow hotels there to serve alcohol to foreigners.

I like the look
Looks badass.
Their new livery is my favourite on the grid at the moment. Its just a shame the nose is the most horrific.

Indeed. The sideview is probably the best looking from all cars, but the nose ruins it all.
Shame it's not Jelzin vodka there.

New nose for force India ? Remember Andy Green mentioning a completely different front end as their next update during preseason interviews.
Posted 06 May 2014 - 00:47
Doubt they would use a new nose on such an aero demanding race like Spain. If it goes wrong it might be a disaster. HOWEVER, I'm pretty sure we might see it on the test after the race.

The "car" they revealed today is from 2 years ago, just with the new colors. Nothing to see until tomorrow

The car looks quick in race trim, but it won't benefit them if they qualify well outside of the top ten. They definitely lost ground on quali pace, even Hulk doesn't look on it so far.

"We've been in the points every race. What we've got to do is make sure we continue the development programme and keep the edge on the race side."
Does he mean that they are good at race strategy and run time calls?

Force India F1 team plans "significant" upgrades for British GP

They've been horrible with strategy to be honest. Perez could have gotten ahead of Grosjean in Spain but they were too conservative with the strategy, and in Bahrain they made a massive mistake of pitting Hulk before Checo even though Checo was ahead. They get a little lost when their drivers race each other.

Sergio in PC today
"Yeah we have a couple of upgrades, so we are really enthusiastic.... It’s the first really big upgrade we bring to the car since the beginning of the year, so hopefully that will put us in better shape and a better position."
He says couple of upgrades(parts) and call it big upgrade!!
Well there's at least 3 big visible aero updates on the car. Conditioners, turning vanes and the nose. If they create some down force it should help the car a ton because that's the only thing its missing
Obviously no one is noticing the upgrades because everyone ignores Force India lol, but its going to be a fun weekend

Pretty good FP1, Perez P6 only behind Mercs, Ferraris, and Button. Also Hulk P8. A chance to score good points, podium might be a bit out of reach, though.
