dont understand why they painted like that. couldve done alot better rather easy, for example paint the nose in white to make it look like thin long nose, and paint the rest or the nose together with pillar in black.
Posted 28 January 2014 - 09:45
Oh Jesus
Posted 28 January 2014 - 09:49
They should rename it the "Mandingo"
Posted 28 January 2014 - 10:00
That thing should be taken out the back and shot.
Posted 28 January 2014 - 10:03
Wtf.
Posted 28 January 2014 - 10:13
Ohhh God, Jesus, Marie and Joseph. That is ugly like shittt.
Posted 28 January 2014 - 11:04
I know this is going to turn into a comedy sketch, but wouldn't the airflow to the splitter improve dramatically if the thin section of nose were to bend upwards on the track.
All sorts of theories in the past of using materials in wings which bend or become flexible when a current is passed through them.
Posted 28 January 2014 - 11:36
OMG. What a pig ugly car.
Frankly that nose makes it look like a joke. I have never laughed so hard at seeing an F1 car for the first time. Its comedy sketch bad.
Posted 28 January 2014 - 12:26
Well, so far that's the ugliest and most embarrassing solution. Jesus, that's bad.
Posted 28 January 2014 - 12:37
Here's a question, if there was a slight tap with another car, and just the 'extension' came off, could the car continue to run with just the high front wing? In terms of both performance and legality?
Posted 28 January 2014 - 12:46
The extension IS the crash structure, it is the last part at the front that will brake.
Posted 28 January 2014 - 13:16
It looked so nice from a side view! And now this?!
Posted 28 January 2014 - 13:22
Apart from the nose i think it's a really good-looking car. I love the paintjob, especially from this angle:

That's a really nice pic, and yes, I like the livery as well. This *could* be a really great looking car.
But THE NOSE!!!! THE NOOOSSSE!!!!!!!! I just can't look anywhere else. It's so unbelievably ugly, I feel like vomiting when I see this. What are they doing to F1, that's utterly ridiculous....

It seems like the teams are so reluctant to do do what they were told, which is to bring the nose down, they would not jeopardize airflow that they need to go underneath the car. It is beyond ridiculous.. why isn't Dallara, a professional chassis manufacturer company coming up with these stupid designs, if they think the airflow underneath the car, particularly under the nose, it is so important ..

Dallara aren't in competition with anyone so they don't need to eek out every last Newton of downforce.

Try not to get too obsessed with the thing from ann summers on the front ;)
Andy Green has already said that it is going to change fairly soon and they just needed something to go testing with.

Livery reminds me of the old Mazda racing livery;
Posted 29 January 2014 - 12:05
Just spotted an 'Astana' logo on the Force India as well.
So it's an Indian team, based in England, with Mexican and German drivers, sponsoring Mexican and Kazakhstan tourist destinations
Posted 29 January 2014 - 22:19
I don't think it looks that bad..... I'm hoping that when watching the cars on track, as opposed to studying photo's, the knob nose will pretty much become invisible.
Posted 31 January 2014 - 06:12
Lots of niggling issues from day 1. Electrical, gearbox, fuel supply, cooling etc.. , hopefully they'll sort them out by Bahrain II test.
Posted 31 January 2014 - 06:34
Definetly look like the worst Merc car right now. Now Daniel is driving so who the hell knows. Need at least 40 laps
Posted 31 January 2014 - 06:45
It would be better if they give HULK half a day today, he had just 17 laps yest

Ha haa...Juncadella doing more laps than both race drivers combined, wonder how they will be feeling
Posted 31 January 2014 - 22:42
bout time they did some laps. Didnt even matter who did them. Now we have to wait 3 weeks for the new nose

"@tgruener: #F1 Force India to run new light-weight chassis in Melbourne - losing around 10kg. VJM07 should get well under the weight limit now."
Posted 11 March 2014 - 17:03
I've loving the start of this season so far. Every car is so much different than the others.
Posted 11 March 2014 - 17:13
That's cool but I'm guessing almost every team was on the same boat, car was overweight and they had to make little changes to bring it below the limit
Posted 11 March 2014 - 17:35
10 kg is about .5 second in Bahrain. So that would put them in the 1:34's in testing. Also hulkenberg mentioned sometime back that their DRS wasn't working. That should hopefully be fixed. With Lighter chassis and working DRS they should be pretty competitive in Australia.
Posted 12 March 2014 - 14:34
I was under the impression FI had a stepped chassis with a vanity panel. Doesn't look like one here. Could that be a B-spec car ?

That's a significant amount.
Trying to rack my brains to remember how much 10kg is supposed to be worth in laptime around a typical track?

Doesn't mean they will be 10kg lighter, but just that they have more ballast to play with. We don't know whether they ran in testing overweight and with ballast in desired places, or at the correct weight with a slightly compromised balance. That's a significant amount.

Posted 12 March 2014 - 19:16
I'm sure I've read that Force India ran overweight during testing.
10kg are usually worth 0.4-0.45s per lap.
Posted 12 March 2014 - 22:03
I'm really trying to keep my hopes down here, but bringing down that weight is something probably every team has done. If I recall correctly Ted was saying how every team was over the limit but had to make sure they had the basics to run the car correctly.
Posted 15 March 2014 - 04:05
finally showed pace, looks like the car is fast enough to make it to Q3 and maybe gain 2 or 3 positions there.

Posted 16 March 2014 - 09:28
He did the best he could I think, Alonso and Button passed him on the pits not on the track
Posted 17 April 2014 - 11:58
For the team thats 2nd in the constructors championship and 3rd in the drivers I'm surprised how little talk there car is generating.
Posted 17 April 2014 - 14:43
Green promised a new nose by around Spain as well so we shall see. And I agree, this is a great little car that is not being talked enough. If that FRIC suspensions works it'll be great to see both Hulk and Perez in Monaco
Posted 17 April 2014 - 15:30
From the AMUS story:
The arms race has already begun. Force India brings to Shanghai an aerodynamic upgrade with new rear wings, fins , modified underbody and revised suspensions. Hulkenberg is only driven a part of the facelift on the first day of testing in Bahrain. "It felt good . We hope that it brings us two to three tenths . "
Wow, that's a lot for a team with no money
Posted 17 April 2014 - 16:59
Got to say I'm hugely impressed with this team over the years. Where do they rank in budget terms?
