Ah, Las Vegas.

The smells...The sights. The history.

What more could a fan ask for?

Track Info:

Las Vegas SuperSpeedway is a glorious 1.5 mile (2.4km) long race track,
with banking as high as 20 deg.

(Click here for an HD closeup of the track compared next to other 1.5mi tracks)

The track is surrounded by plenty of things to do, including a meet and greet with our own OLB*!
(*Bring your own sharpies, see site for details)

The weather looks like it won't play a factor this weekend, only some minor cloud cover.

TV Coverage:
(taken from Jayski/NASCAR...
add +/- 30 minutes for actual green flag
because nascar is like that)

NASCAR Pre-Race: FOX - 2:30pm/et

Television Race Coverage: FoxSports, 3:00pm/et

Green flag approx. 3:16pm/et

Storylines:

With two races into the schedule, NASCAR competition is already starting to heat up.
We already have two drivers locked into the chase;
Dale Junyah and Kevin "I made Kyle Busch finish backwards at Daytona" Harvick.

Who will come out as the next race winner locked in?
Who will you put your money on for winning this race?

I'm not sure.

Betting/Financial Advice:

Let's be honest. There probably are better things you should be doing with your money.
But if there isn't, here are some good betting tips for ya this weekend.

1. Bet on History. -
Jimmy John's son has the most wins here, with 4.
With multiple drivers still here from the inaugural race;
(Jeff Burton, Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labonte and Mark Martin), I'd bet on them.

Or not.

2. Bet on a Busch. -
Hate them or hate them, you have to give it to them.
Count on at least one, if not all, of the Busch brothers doing something in
Las Vegas*.
(*Not responsible for any lost wages due to Kyle winning another NNS race and not NSC
or Kurt messing up a hotel room with a metal champagne bottle)

3. Danica "PSP" Pat Rick -

Not sure if she's actually going to be something worth betting your money on,

but I just wanted to post this funny picture of her car plastered with
extra strength duct tape.

4. Never bet the house (or avatar...) -

Never bet your avatar on something silly.
Take my situation. I'm stuck with this beaster

<----------------

Until bozo wins a race.

Wrap Up:

Will we ever be the same after this weekend?

Will the race be so profound that it changes our perception of all 1.5mi tracks?

Did you know Vegas alone consumes more than 60,000
pounds of shrimp daily?

I dunno. & That's alot of shrimp.

comic sans

If you need that newfangled online live VHS tape website thing, I'm sure
a certain someone* will be able to help out with his
Nigerian streaming service**.

(*They don't accept major credit cards, only cash, check, or money order.)

(**When writing a check to be mailed out to them, make sure you leave the amount blank,
so they can fill it in for you.)

Did you know Vegas alone consumes more than 27,216 kilograms of prawns daily?

1. I really love aerial photos of circuits.

2. Tony Stewart, just because...

3. Converted to SI units for non-Americans who might drop by (like me). Unless you meant £60,000, but that would be weird.

Before anything else, I'd like to call dibs on the May Talladega race thread for my first attempt at a Nascar thread opener.  :cat:

Thanks Deluxx!

These OPs are the bomb, one of the high points of the board.

So far two races, two chevys in the winners circle.

I'll go for three and call it now that one of the Hendricks stable will get another chevy win.

Jeff Burton is in the 66 this weekend, in like a Toyota/TRD house paintjob. Black/red/white with Toyota branding.

I was thinking maybe it's a clever advertising trick if the last thing you see before being wrecked and suffering a teeth-shattering dance with the wall was ASPEN DENTAL...

Could be a Logano kind of track, they showed well on the 1.5s late last year and seem to have carried the momentum into early 2014.

The WoO teams headed over to the dirt track earlier today for tonight and Thurs night events.  It's a good show plus the couple of days prior to the event before the track opens you can see some of the teams working on the cars in some of the hotel parking lots.

Cool scheme, a long way from the ones when Jr. first joined Hendrick. Bet Ntl Guard was glad to finally get a points race win after half a dozen years of investment....

The 24 looks pretty awesome except for the giant yellow sperm swimming at the bottom of the door panel.

Does anybody else hate the asymmetrical spoiler as much as I do?

Ranking them all is actually a tough question, but here goes nutthin':

1.  MotoGP

2.  Sportscars/Le Mans

3.  F1.

=3.  Indycar.

5.  Rallying (but it's bloody hard to follow now days with no TV coverage).

6.  Cricket

7.  Athletics.

8.  NASCAR

9.  Rugby

10. Soccer

=10.  Damn near any other sport that catches my attention for a moment up to, and probably including two flies racing up a window pane.

11.  Winding SR388 up by pointing out how totally sh!t US TV advertising is.

Ohhhh, nearly forgot one!!  Winding up fanbois of all sorts, but with the particular emphasis on the easy mark of Kimi or JV ones.  Then again that's not really sport because it's so damn easy.

Not likely to happen with the publicity that would be involved, but Stewart Haas would be well served putting one of the part-timers in the #10 for a weekend to get a sense of its true potential.

Not necessary.

It's essentially a Hendricks ride. I think time has proven, and of late, with Harvick, that it is a top ten car easily.

Right now Danica is 41st in the standings, and in danger of fighting to even get into the races if this continues. I think after five races (?) only the top 36 in points are locked in.

Well at minimum it's capable of the other SHR cars, you'd assume. It's not like it's short of funding or staff.

Danica brings in more revenue crashing every week than a noobie would driving the wheels off of it.... sadly.
