*Wakes up after that snoozer at Kentucky* Oh hey, wildcard race #3 is here! The best and likely final shot for your Ricky Stenhouses, your Aric Almirolas, your Marcos Ambroses (actually, Marcos still has the Glen), your Casey Mears, and yes, your Danica Patricks and those other driver outside the top 20 to get in the Chase with a win.

Tempted to call in sick on Friday night but a man's gotta eat. My whole week has been the left side of my brain screaming "You can afford to eat $90 once in a while, especially for Daytona" while the other side of my brain calmly points out it's just Nationwide and it would take more than $90 falling out of the sky into my lap to watch Kyle win again.

$15 on Jenny Hamlin and $15 on ol' Mikey to win it all by the way. Denny is 14/1 @ $210 and Mikey is 40/1 @ $600. Sly 20 on Bowyer to win the whole damn title as well.

 WOW

I wonder if Vegas offered odds on qualifying  what picking they trifecta would have paid .( a million  maybe 2 million)

Throw in Labonte for the quadfecta and you' re looking at Penske money

So this race starts in about an hour and a half. Good chance of rain, though.

If Mikey or Denny win this one, drinks are on me next week.

If Mikey wins, it's all down to his exceptional perifial vision.

Think so; it's mostly (except for a couple of weeks a year) 6 hours difference to CET

Daytona Cup should start 3 hours after Silverstone Formula 1 starts. Pocono's Indycar starting during the Cup race at 4 hours past the start of Silverstone which is about 2 hours away from now.

Well I am happy our European friends benefit from this.

I apologize for my comments last night. I was very upset and being rude. Most of all I was selfish.

The end of Daytona will clash with the start of Pocono but at least this isn't one of those days where every race has 3 hours between it or something.

I didn't think that was rude. I just thought it was weird you were annoyed you were missing the start of church, for church.

Thank God our young men and women are out there protecting my freedom and allowing me to live my life in peace. My life in freedom is great: I'd much rather be slaving away in a factory 50 hours a week for $11 an hour instead fighting off foreign invaders, gunning down infidels, chain-smoking, grenade-throwing, vodka-drinking, and RPG-shooting. I could be forced to live a warrior's life, living off the land and fighting bravely for my country with occasional breaks to nail female soldiers in a dirty old foxhole right now, but thankfully I live a life of peace, where I'm free to eat too much too often, get drunk and break my phone, pay off credit cards and work overtime every weekend.

That's a whole lotta wreck. Weird how the cars couldn't run side-by-side in the daytime at the Daytona 500, but by the summer they're having no trouble.

So the cars sat under covers on pitlane, can't be worked on.

Can they work on the ones which were wheeled into the garage ?

If the cars are under covers, how could the officials tell?

I bet Hendrick has dwarf mechanic in the back of JJ's car who's prepared for just these eventualities.

^More rain showers on the way with the amount of time and money it takes drying the track. It's already been delayed once an I doubt TNT would allow another all-day rain delay in when the race is beyond halfway.

True, but they spent forever with the 500 this year waiting to get the track dry under the same circumstances.  And they've done it elsewhere too. It just seemed like they gave up quicker than they usually do. But it's probably for the best. Over half the cars were out of contention and it was a mess from the start, lol. Does anyone really want to see if a damaged Gordon and Junior can beat like 12 other cars, most of whom you're surprised they are even in the race to begin with (Hi Terry!)? Heck, they'd probably wreck again and have 5 cars finish the entire race. Just go ahead and give Almirola his lottery ticket
