I actually was kind of hoping that would happen to underscore how absurd these plate races are. I'm just glad Armirola at least largely earned it on track instead via pit stop luck. The last caution may have saved a repeat of the Nationwide qualifying incident when the pack hit a sudden shower.

However Kyle and his team joking around as he sat on this roof was amusing. Was it the spotter who said "just hanging out?" ('Stay buckled' was also good).

I'm surprised that NASCAR didn't let Danica have a shot at it.  With virtually the entire competitive field out or wounded, the opportunity couldn't be better to give her a win, and a berth in the Chase along with it.

Haha, good idea. Just keep trying to restart no matter how wet it is and as soon as she takes the lead by an inch, throw the caution and call the race. Send your resume to Brian France. They need you in race control.

I think they decided to go with Petty car winning the 30th anniversary of the 200th win in front of President Reagan (not impossible there was a friendly tech inspection in play for that one back in that era   ;) )
