Facts does not stop any thread to be opened and opinionated upon.  I think it is a timely thread to get started, there is only so much we can agree to disagree about in the Alonso / Button / Raikkonen / Vettel / Vergne / Kvyat / Verstappen / Sainz Sr. / Sainz Jr. / Nasr / Massa / Magnussen / Ricciardo threads.

The past season we had

--

McLaren online January 24th.
Ferrari online January 25th.
Sauber January 26th.
Toro Rosso January 27th.
Mercedes pitlane in Jerez January 28th.
Caterham January 28th.
Red Bull January 28th.
Williams revealed an image on Janaury 23rd real launch in pitlane real launch pitlane in Jerez January 28th.
Marussia January 31st
Force India revealed an image on January 22nd real luanch in pitlane in Jerez January 28th
Lotus revealed an image of their car on 24th January real launch February 21st in pitlane in Bahrain.

In the old days - not too long ago - the launches were an elaborate affair worldwide press present at a huge presentation, cars hidden from view under tarpaulin which the drivers lifted of revealing the next WCC and WDC wining car, pompous statements verbal and written would be spewed, and fandom across the universe would get saddled up to state the obvious and not so obvious which for most part mean none of us knew anything.

First test date in 2015 is February 1st, so why don't we start out thinking that is when the majority of cars will be launched?

I agree, most will be unveiled In the pit lane at Jerez, same as this year.

Mercedes might do a seperate launch, after winning both titles, in their museum in Stuttgart. The W05 will end up their eventually anyway, just like the MP4-23 did.

Ferrari and McLaren will probably do something before hand.

Hi all!

Haven't posted on here for a loong time, so why not today? :)

I'm wondering if anyone knows the upcoming launch/presentation dates for 2015 cars?

Is there any info on this available anywhere?

Cheers,

Andy

I miss the days of elaborate launches in early January - who could forget Flavio's and Eddie's outlandish launches with Benetton and Jorsan respectively? Even Minardi used to hold huge parties with their new car.

Nowadays its just a drab unveiling in the pitlane rain, or a half shut garage door animation on a website. Signs of the times, I know, and I'd rather that than people losing their jobs.... but I still miss the old days.

And it gave us something to talk about in January!

We can talk about how the launches used to be lavish affairs, especially the Falvio and Eddie affairs...

There was a bit about car launches in this thread: http://forums.autosp...sting-schedule/ (well for Force India anyway)

First announced launch is Force India:

Sahara Force India Formula One Team and America Movil are pleased to confirm Wednesday 21st January 2015 as the team's 2015 launch.

The event will take place at the Soumaya Museum in Mexico City at 11:00 local time. In attendance will be the team's drivers and senior management. [/size]

No date, but here it is...
Sahara Force India to launch 2015 car & renewed (& likely enhanced imho) Telmex - Claro - Telcel - America Movil backing in Mexico City
http://www.f1.co.uk/...e-india-in-2015

The Force India launch in Mexico will be a livery launch only. Not the 2015 car.

So, if they don't launch the 2015 car then, on what will they put the livery? do they paint the museum's gates?

(yes, I know they'll probably show the 2014 car in 2015 livery, but it sounds rather foolish to me. Next year they'll probably organize an unveiling ceremony just to present us the driver's seat...or something...)

In hindsight that would have been the best way for Lotus to launch their 2014 car.

I can confirm that the Force India "launch" is only for the livery and the new sponsors, so you can safely ignore anything that happens that day.

Sigh

The new livery itself might be a story there. Seems like Telmex might be stepping things up a bit.

As expected.

It's close to the start of testing in Jerez. All hands on deck in the factories now to get new cars ready for the tests.

I'd be surprised if Force India were in the position to take out a new chassis and fly it to Mexico for a launch and back.

Alas, we are close to a certain period in the calendar when Autosport board members' posts will greatly vary between "that livery sucks" and "OMG the car is butt ugly".

Yay for negativity.

I highly doubt we'll see the car prior to the first test. If they do actually ship a chassis all the way over to Mexico, it'll have 2014-spec wings. In 2012, Lotus even went to the trouble of launching a 2011 car with a fake nose on it. It was effectively a fictional car.

I just came here to post your story.

http://formulaspy.co...january-21-9222

‘Full launch’ for Force India on January 21

Despite rumours to the contrary, the launch of Force India in Mexico will display the VJM08, as well as the team’s new livery.
After weeks of vague timelines being given by most of the teams for the launches of their new car, Force India have become the first to set a date in stone. January 21 will see the new VJM08 revealed by drivers Nico Hulkenberg & Sergio Perez.

Rumours had abounded recently that the announced date would only be a livery reveal using an older chassis. This would make sense, as shipping a new chassis to Mexico immediately before sending it to testing in Spain a few days later means logistics will be difficult for the team. However, Force India have this evening confirmed to FormulaSpy that the reveal will be a full launch with ‘drivers, management all in attendance’, as well as the reveal of the 2015 car and livery.

Interesting. I'd imagine the Mexican sponsors must have put quite some pressure on the team.

The one I really like is when rumours are abound from spectators or journalists that one car handles better than the other during tests .e.g. my car is better than your car cos it hit 360 kph on 12 lap old  hard compound tyres with race sim fuel on board, which is a stark contrast tot he end of the season when they denounce the cars and say things like our car was the 5th best and yet our driver finished 2nd in the wdc  :drunk:

Yep, have it in writing from Force India that its a livery and chassis launch, interesting to see what the new look is.
