Interesting, Brian...
And a perfect excuse for me to report on Bob Britton's reading of the Michael Argetsinger books about Walt Hansgen and Mark Donohue.
Bob's life these days no longer have him in his workshop building cars, cars just like the Elden, but his interests in these things still burn brightly and his reading is done with great intensity.
"That Michael Argetsinger sure could write!" he told me the other day. And Bob is one who has the background and the understanding to say such things with knowledge and passion. He said he'd love to have met Michael and knows much more about the subjects of the books because of Michael's detailed writing. Bob knows much more about the settings in which these drivers raced and the people with whom they spent their time and how they operated thanks to the details related by Mike.

Next week, Saturday 30 September, the IMRRC is holding a celebration for its 25 years and the 75th anniverary of the Watkins Glen Grand Prix.
Thanks especially to Mike and his mother, Jean, along with a host of others of course, we have the IMRRC.
While Mike could certainly talk -- thanks to our many, many multi-hour phone conversations along the many hours chatting while together I can attest to that, he was always so focused on his writing.
It always seemed that Mike knew no end of writers as well as those shakers & movers within motor sport and managed to get them to come to the Research Center for talks.
As Brian and others here can attest, you could ask for no finer friend than Mike.
The Michael Argetsinger Symposium is probably about the best tribute we could envision for Mike. He would have loved it!

And here's Mr. Dresang in action with the Argetsinger Elden last weekend at Road America, flat out (we assume) on the downhill straight between T3 and T5 Sunday morning:

And, sadly, much longer from this forum...
Brian, I trust Lee is doing okay?

It's been almost 2 years since I've talked to Lee. I'd touch bases once, possibly twice a year, and the last time (I was just literally blocks from their home on a work trip), I got the impression that time had passed on her wanting to stay in touch with those in Michael's racing circle. I send JC and Joan a Christmas card yearly, but have not heard from them for quite some time either. Kevin Hughey and Bill Green are still close, and I look forward to a fall trip to Watkins to say hi to them. And, sadly, much longer from this forum...

You'll all be pleased to know Michael's 1973 Elden PH10B won the 2024 Monoposto Racing Vintage Formula Ford Championship in 2024, sporting the livery the car wore in 1973 in the American Express Formel Ford Cup
The car finished 3rd out of 27 cars at last summer's Weathertech International Challenge at Road America in the Vintage Formula Ford class, and won its class at the SVRA Spring race, as well as the VSCDA Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival over 9 other Vintage Fords.
Its a beauty to drive and is an absolute honor to throw around the track in memory of Mike.
Respectfully,
Jacques Dresang
