Hello chaps. I'm trying to sort a first time trip out for next year. Appreciate I'm leaving it late - especially with accommodation - but my draft plan is:
- easy jet to Nice
- hotel from Friday to Monday
- train transfers to and from circuit
- hang about at circuit after qualifying and race rather than rush back to nice
- taxi to and from airport
Any comments or tips on any of the above elements would be appreciated
Many thanks in advance.

I think you should be OK with accommodation, a lot of hotels don't even seem to be available yet (I booked at the end of September last year and still got a great deal - I have been checking the hotels I was looking at last year from May and so far none of them are selling rooms, maybe they are all sold out but I would be surprised if that was the case, and there were still OK deals only a few weeks before the GP).

Flight to Nice, can't really go wrong

Hotel Fri-Mon - Can you get a day earlier? - there are the support categories in action on the Friday, which is free to attend, and is a great way of trying out a couple of the other grandstands, as well as the pit-walk which is free to attend Friday afternoon. I also highly recommend the Wednesday as it is a great way to see the set-up to a GP, the pit-lane can be accessed as well as alongside the paddock. the track is open all day to walk round as well and it is a good chance to have a look around Monaco.

Train is very easy to get to and from the circuit, there are several an hour and only take about 20 mins.

Definitely hang around afterwards - all the bars open up along the circuit and it is amazing the transformation and there is a great atmosphere.

Taxi to the airport? - I got a bus from the airport, and the train back, both really easy.

Where are you planning on watching the race from? Grandstand or General Admission.

I'd stay in Villefranche is you can. About 40 minutes on the bus from Monaco and a beautiful part of the world. We stayed in a hotel a few months ago there which was nice and not at all expensive.

Thanks guys. All sorted apart from flights now as waiting for easyjet to release fares. All good except that I have to go with Chewie (above). Every silver lining has a cloud....... 😎

Watching from grandstand O, opposite swimming pool and backs to the sea. Back row of that stand.

How painful is the process of the train? Do we get tickets in advance or on the day? Is it likely to be rammed busy?

And is it possible to " walk the circuit" at any point?

Thanks! πŸ˜€πŸ‘

Great views from O and a good spot for photos.
The train is fine - I had no issues (but I expect I got it much earlier in the morning than a normal, sane person would) also it is worth hanging around in Monaco in the evening when the bars open along the track and the atmosphere is great - so again the main rush will have gone. Not tried getting into the station during the 'busy' period. It is a bit of an odd station, it is built into the cliff so all underground and it has several exits and you need to get the right one or else you end up on the wrong side of Monaco and have a very long walk back to where you want to be - it is signed at the station so just follow the signs for 'O'. (same as T which is where I was heading, its pretty straight forward and a short walk down hill to the track - head for the back of the train at Nice and you will be at the right end of the station in Monaco). On the Friday I headed for Casino Square which involved a lift to get out the station at the other end, I'd hate to think how that works if it is busy.
I bought all my train tickets the 1st day I got the train (Wednesday) so I didn't have to queue each morning, there are ticket machine that you can use though as well.

I walked the circuit on the Wednesday, however they also open the roads each evening after the sessions are finished so I'm sure it would be possible to walk it at that point also, although bars open out onto the track so you will have to fight your way through the party as well as the normal traffic  :).
