I'm looking at Schroth Installation Instructions with respect to wrapping shoulder straps into a roll cage/hoop with a wrap around installation directly to the roll cage (cross) bar.
Schroth say the diameter of the bar shall not exceed 2".
Have any authorities set minimum bar diameters?

Not to my knowledge. Most bars in the vicinity of harness are usually 30-40mm. In speedway cars at least.
I have never fitted a harness that way in a tin top. It probably is a better way though.
I do not like all the 2" fitting that come with 3" harness's
