Welcome to the sixteenth round of the F1 Teammates Pools 2017 game. Its focus is on the battles between teammates. The concept is that you get to try guessing which driver beats their teammate each time in the race (draw is a possibility, but rare). The aim is to guess as many correct results as possible; points are awarded in relation to the guesses of the rest of the players.
The pairs for the 2017 Japanese GP are as follows:
Mercedes: Hamilton – Bottas
Red Bull: Ricciardo – Verstappen
Ferrari: Vettel – Raikkonen
Force India: Perez – Ocon
Williams: Massa – Stroll
McLaren: Alonso– Vandoorne
Toro Rosso: Sainz Jnr. – Gasly
Haas: Grosjean – Magnussen
Renault: Hulkenberg – Palmer
Sauber: Ericsson – Wehrlein
Guesses are entered in the following format (or similar, but please include the slash): Username/12X1212X12.
In this example, Hamilton wins, Verstappen wins, Ferrari drivers draw, etc.
Scoring system
There are winners for the five higher winning categories. Based on 10 teams taking part, winnings are distributed as follows:
10 correct guesses: (Number of guesses entered in round x 100 + Jackpot points, if any) / number of 10 correct guesses
9 correct guesses: (Number of guesses entered in round x 60) / number of 9 correct guesses
8 correct guesses: (Number of guesses entered in round x 40) / number of 8 correct guesses
7 correct guesses: (Number of guesses entered in round x 20) / number of 7 correct guesses
6 correct guesses: (Number of guesses entered in round x 10) / number of 6 correct guesses
Needless to say, if you have 10 correct guesses, you don’t also collect winnings from the lower categories, and so on.
The payout for a category cannot be smaller than in any lower category. If this is the case, the payout for the category will be calculated as follows (with many thanks to thegforcemaybewithyou for the suggestion):
Payout Cat 10 = max(payout Cat 10, 1.2*max(payout Cat 9 to 6))
Payout Cat 9 = max(payout Cat 9, 1.2*max(payout Cat 8 to 6))
etc.
If more or fewer teams take part, then the multipliers do not change, I’ll just start the 100x calculation from the number of participating teams. Any decimal points will be rounded up if .5 or higher, or down if .4 or lower.
Results are calculated based on the official results published in FIA at the end of the event/weekend. So, any appeals, etc, discussed and decided by the end of the event by the stewards, I’ll take into account. Any subsequent appeals will be ignored.
A driver wins the round if he’s higher than his teammate in the classification at the end of the race, or his teammate is not classified (due to DNF, etc). If a driver retires in the last laps of the race but is still classified, he can still win the round. If both teammates are not classified, then we have a draw (X), no matter the order of retirement.
If a driver is replaced after the thread has opened and guesses are in, the new driver takes his place, and it is assumed that any guesses were for the new driver. If both drivers are replaced after the thread has opened and guesses are in, well, then the pair will be void, and not taken into account for the calculation of the scores (how often can this happen!). In this case, the highest category will be [participating teams minus one], etc.
JACKPOT: If there’s no winner in the highest category, then the pot moves to the next round. If it is not claimed in the next round, it disappears (though it is possible that it will be replaced by another jackpot). No jackpot in the lower categories, any remaining pots there are ignored.
*** ALL GUESSES TO BE POSTED BY START OF THE RACE. LATE GUESSES WILL BE EXCLUDED FROM THE ROUND ***
