We have another Projekt E entrant for 2020 in Polish rally car builder Rallytechnology. They plan to fit a STARD electrification kit into an R5 rolling chassis.

I’m attending my first RX race in Barcelona next year, specifically made a point of going as in a year or two time the noise will be gone! :-(

On the flip-side, I reckon I’ll be going to my first RX event in the next year or two precisely to see the new age of electric

I think what we tend to forget about the noise in motorsport is that, as much as it genuinely and legitimately draws people to the sport...it also puts people off.

I’ve taken a good number of my family and friends to a track and some have not enjoyed it because it was ‘too loud’.

I think people tend to assume that reducing the noise only erodes the fan-base rather than opening it up to new ones as well.

Impressive specs from Williams. Just stick that thing in a swappable pack mated to a bigger motor into FE and add stops. Double the power, yes please!

I was actually expecting much smaller battery capacity for such a car and much lower energy density at the cell level. I can only say, impressive.

Of course the likes of Lotus are taking it to an even higher level with upcoming cars. It's unacceptable for electric racing series to be sub par. Glad that rally cross will lead the way.
Please let someone put a formula car together with that batter and such motors. Really compact motors are on the market. Heck, imagine four F1 MGU-K's, on on each wheel. Those things are tiny.

Can't wait for the racing! We need to pester racing series and FIA to step it up. Electric road cars are so good already, race cars so meh, apart from these WRX then.

First Projekt E Chassis Delivered After ASI Display
https://e-racing365....er-asi-display/

"STARD has delivered the first customer Projekt E chassis just days after displaying the car at Autosport International show in Birmingham.
Holten Motorsport took delivery of its REVelution powertrain, complete with stock Ford Fiesta bodywork like the demonstration car, on Monday."

It makes sense. EV's are very well suited for rallicross. The short race format and the high torque characteristics of an electric powertrain mean that the EV's would beat the supercars' laptimes very easily unless you were to artificially restrain them.

To have the EV's treated as a sideshow to a slower main event would be confusing to the public and the legitimacy of the championships. To slow the EV's to save face would go down like a lead balloon with the manufacturers who've only recently got on board with WRX.

Don't rally cross cars run a restrictor to keep the power down (artificially restrained)?

Yup. Done that for almost 30 years now.

What I take from that is that I fear it's the end of OMSE.

Also, Citroën Racing will join ProjektE using the C3 R5 chassis as a base and STARD's electric conversion kit.
