In this earlier thread Alan Cox posted a photo of the badge:
I can no longer see Photobucket photos but I gather some people still can. Perhaps Alan or someone with Photobucket access might be persuaded to repost the photo?Here is one of the shots which Bjorn kindly forwarded clearly illustrating the Essex Racing Stable badge. I have to say that it is the first time I have ever seen it illustrated.

A quick google reveals that the three scimitars are the logo of Essex county council (and also, strangely, Middlesex when a crown is added) although there were not many scimitars to be seen when I lived in that part of the world.

Here in the Kingdom of the East Saxons we call them seaxes, not scimitars and certainly not cutlasses...
