Front Wheel off Lotus 23 type sports racer. Does anyone know what it is from or who made it?

My friend Bill Wiswedel has just purchased a Lotus 23 type sports racer. I will put up pictures of the chassis and see if anyone remembers this car in the day.

Here is the front part of the car.

The chassis is very dirty and needs to be cleaned up. The steering was routed lower and a bigger driver must have been in the car because they raised where the steering shaft goes through the chassis to a position above the frame work.

Here is the inside of the chassis

It had a Lotus 23 type roll hoop originally and it was replaced by this larger version somewhere along the way.

The shift lever was originally in the middle of the car and it has been moved to the drivers right.

Here is the rear view of the car

It has a 4 cylinder Ford engine with a valve cover that says Cosworth and a VW type transmission. It has axles that bolt direct to the gearbox and also a set with rubber donuts on them.

Different wheel fixings front and rear...

Probably a one-off, which I'm sure you'd realise.

Better view of engine area and interior of car

Ray the front had a 4 bolt pattern and I believe the rear is 5 bolt.

This car came with no body, a Lotus 23 type body would look great on it.

Bill would be happy taking it to a local track day at Gingerman which is about 40 minutes from him.

Hi Jerry, I ran this by a friend in Michigan, if it is based on an early 23 ? ? to start with have a look at the centre tube, there should be a tag brazed on, or a stamping with the number that says "Arch Motors built". there are many things that are wrong for a 23.  And a few ! that could be right.

pm me off the board and I can put you or  Bill in touch with my contact, he would be happy to talk.

Mike, in Canada.

Might be this- I found some old prints of an outfit called "Bandera Enterprises" out of Woodland Hills, Ca that was selling blueprints of a Lotus 23 frame and A-Arms.  I'm making a copy for Bill.  Anyone know anything about someone in Southern Cal named Bandera-- prints are dated 1963.

Some of the suspension mounts are very similar to the 23, but spring/damper mounts are all very different.

The gearbox mount crossmember is very much unlike the 23.
