Hello

once again I´ve a question.

In Peter Higham´s World Encyclopedia I read that Keke Rosberg won the

following races Formula Vee: 1974 Zolder & Silverstone, 1975: Nurburgring and Silverstone.

Can anyone tell me which car he drove, and are there sources I can find more racing Results Formula Vee?

With regards
Karl-Heinz

Formula Super Vee, not Vee. I'm sure he drove a Kaimann, but I can tell you more when I get home and have access to my sources.

Finding Formula Vee results? By that, you probably mean online, then the answer's probably: fat chance! I don't know of any online sources.

I do know he raced a Tui at Watkins Glen in 1975, 'cause a friend whooped him.

If you do mean "Super Vee," please change the thread title and perhaps add Rosberg specifics. Not sure you can do it yourself, Tim Murray (moderator extraordinaire) can help.

And... WELCOME!!!

Darren Galpin’s site has Formula Super Vee results for 1974 and 1975, including the races Karl-Heinz mentioned:

According to "Keke: An Autobiography," Rosberg drove a Bosch-Kaiman at Zolder and Silverstone in 1974, and a Kaiman/Heidegger at Nurburgring (two victories and three retirements) and Silverstone in 1975.

Good work Proviz, I personally had no idea Keke did so much Super Vee!

First time I saw him race was in US F-Atlantic, where he stunned (but had his share of shunts), the second time he was in the ATS F1 car.

Keke made his name in FSV, which was very big on the Continent in the mid-70s. Never took off in the UK though really. There were loads of Scandinavians, Germans etc doing the Euro series like Keke, other names that come to mind were Schurti, Arpianen, Kozarowitsky, Persson, and many others.

There was a small bunch of Super Vee racers in the UK. Brian Henton, Bruce Venn and Olly Hollamby spring to mind but the grids were never big.

The European Super Vee racers were an interesting bunch, touring the Continent living off prize money from race to race. Some of their transporters were kitted out with lathes and fabrication equipment which meant they could repair virtually anything on the move.

I've no idea whose car this is. Silverstone 1975.

Could be Keke! He was sponsored by Uwes Moden, Kamei and Boss that year, iirc.

EDIT: 1975_1-racingbus_142.2228.jpg

Keke on the left, then Poldi von Bayern, I think. Don't recognize the one on the right.

This is one of the three Kern Kaimann cars of Uwe Jürdens team "Uwes Mode Racing Team". Jürdens had several fashion (mode) shops. So driver is either Rosberg, Leopold von Bayern or Thomas Teves. Rosberg likely not as he had additional Colt sponsorship. Kern also sponsored Keke in his first Wolf races.

The car looks almost vulgar, but then so did the early Formula 5000 cars.  Did see some good SuperVee races on occasions in the mid-seventies though.  Never mainstream, but remember them to this day at places like Aintree and Cadwell Park and the cars looked a lot better than Alan's picture above..

Isn't it strange what we do remember?

Kaimanns were almost relics with their tubular frames, back then already. Except for the Elf-Alpine F2, I don't recall any other spaceframe designs in the mid seventies!?!

How about the wondrously bodied Formula Three Alpine Renault Formula Three cars, especially the 1972 and 1973 versions?  (I still want one).

And let's not forget the "copying" of them by a certain company in Bicester.

Thomas Teves is the grandson of Alfred Teves, founder of the Ate industries, maker of car brakes. and other parts.

Ah, interesting! Thanks!

From the bottom of the box on which it says, "useless information, not fit for conversations with the fairer sex", the Sachs hairpin at the Hockenheimring was once (in the 60s?) called the Ate-Kurve.

I hope to speak to Super Vee racers actually like Manfred Schurti and Kennerth Persson. It'll be about Gunnar Nilsson.

March?

I don't know where Marquardt's Modus factory was but long thought they looked similar. Another friend (RIP) raced the Modus to good effect here in 1976, and possibly '77.

Re Alpine/March(Modus?), I assume Mark means the A360 series, which did look quite similar to the March 733/743s. Can't see how the Modus design fits in there though E!>

Yes, March, Dan.  The 742/743s in particular.

Yes, a bit of a stretch. :-)
