They shouldn’t issue any penalties as it was there system that failed.

The FIA should give themselves a penalty for having their sensors break down and then, I dunno, letting the drivers police it themselves.

No, its down to the teams and drivers that it is used correctly, the laws still apply even if the automated system that normally helps run it didn't.

they said it was manual so it could be that some drivers 'cheated' and used it on non-drs zones, but I'm not saying any driver did do that during Baku. I don't know and I don't know how the FIA can prove it so I think no penalty

If Perez gets a penalty then we'll be hearing the Ferrari International Assistance thing again!

If the FIA system was broken they should have just said DRS was disabled for the rest of the race.

Trying to get the drivers to manage it was always going to cause issues like this.

It was only manual in the second zone from turn 2 to 3.

DRS broken, manual activation, should be given the benefit of the doubt.

I agree that that would have been the better solution, disable DRS in that section, but the laws on its use still apply under the solution they gave.

Unless it turns out Perez was just running the whole race with the DRS open all the time, which would've been pretty funny.

F1 would be so much more romantic if we heard about all the FIA's decisions through the medium of Spanish

It really should be like the Eurovision Song Contest and be all done in French.

I genuinely thought the FIA were going to sit on the decision and spin it out till evening like they used to

There were four more drivers summoned because of the same infraction... Understandable if they could've activated it a few meters before the actual line.

Nothing to see here, let's move on.
