Of those "high-profile international sports celebrities" I have different expectations. I expect them to behave like a human being and not as a PR talking robot like it is common these days. I love to see them as a normal human being. And drinking alcohol, is one thing that a "low-profile nominal Joe Average" does (or could do). Becoming drunk is a possible outcome from drinking alcohol. So if a "high-profile international sports celebrity" gets drunk and if captured on camera, I can relativate it to him or her being human. As an advice to you; grow a pair and drop your PC bullcrap. It will make your life a whole lot easier and more fun.

And it's completely wrong, as well as patronising: "growing a pair" means, precisely, being an adult and being aware that you can't always behave like you wanted. If we always did what we wanted, no matter the rules (written or not), the world but be an even more unbearable place to live. That's why human beings have invented things like correction, politeness and respect to the rules.

 

Call me "PC crap" if you want. I'm proud of it. Better that than the childish idea that getting drunk at a public event is cool.

You are right. That's the reality for most mere mortals. But some, i.e Kimi, have made "getting drunk" a bit of brand of themselves, so they get away with it. But only truly successful and famous ones can afford it.

Patronising is such a PC word as well. It was an advice to grow a pair. But society in general usually doesnt respond well to being corrected, having to obey the rules or other religions. So I personally cant see the benefits from having to play life by the rules, to be nice all the time or even having to apologize for something I do believe in. I do believe some of you in general need to grow a pair, to not take life so seriously and just live your life the way you want it to. Not because the rules say so. Like Kimi does.

I dont mind what Kimi did, in fact it made this whole gala better, and comparing this to how it's dealt with in a normal job is always flawed anyways, but I'm pretty sure that most other drivers wouldnt have been celebrated for this, in fact I think some would have been slated. But that's nothing new with Kimi, he has a special status in that sense

It probably makes them what they are. If they want to get drunk in public, good for them. If they don't, good for them as well.

I'm surprised to read that. Of course I have the full and absolute right to criticize the behaviour of an international celebrity at a public and broadcasted event. And I criticize it. Furthermore, I criticize all sort of people being drunk at public events. Completely unprofessional, IMO.

I don't think anyone is "offended" here, except, ironically, the ones who seem to get offended by what they call "PC crap".

 

I'm certainly not "offended" by Kimi's attitude, but I don't think coming drunk to a public event where you are one of the stars is a good idea. Feel free to disagree.
