Ferrari tend to go for lap time a bit more than RB and Merc, so if talking overall quickest lap times:
1. Ferrari

And for the rest ... for now, I'm expecting it to tighten up a lot and be quite track dependent on which teams float into the points and which teams fade to the back. I think the battle to get out of Q1 this year could really fluctuate this year.

I expect them all to be much closer than in 2018, though. It seems like they are all gettin' their **** together. Alfa, McLaren, Racing Point, Williams, Renault and Haas are all in a better position than last year.

Williams have released some renders, and as a Williams fan it left me worried how the FW42 looks after seeing the whole grid.
As the team built a complex car they couldn't understand last season, perhaps a relatively simple base is the best first stage of a recovery?

Top
1) Mercedes

2) Ferrari
Mid Pack
3) Renault
4) Red Bull
5) Alfa Romeo
6) Force Stroll
7) Haas
Backmarkers
8) Toro Rosso

What I'd like:-
Top
Ferrari - Red Bull - McLaren - Renault
Mid pack
Alfa Romeo - Haas - Williams
Backmarkers
Force Stroll - Toro Rosso - Mercedes

Ferrari/Red Bull (Leclerc, Gasly, Verstappen, Vettel)
Renault
McLaren (yeah, optimistic I know)
Alfa Romeo (LOVE typing that)
Haas (HAAS, haas, hAAS, hAaS, think that’s covered it)
Force Racing India Point Sportpesa Nigerian Stream
LATE ENTRY (or forgotten) Toro Rosso
Williams (need a Rokit)
List feels short with only nine teams.
Edit: because there are ten teams...

Well, there's a couple of very large question marks, namely, Honda and Renault. Both are claiming large steps, but both had issues last year, so other than Mercedes and Ferrari, a lot of this depends on just how good a job both Honda and Renault did over the winter. I would imagine that it's safe to assume Haas, RP, and Alfa to go backwards as some of their success last year was due to the under performance of STR and McLaren, both of whom should do much, much better this season. If Honda has their sums correct, Red Bull could be a monster, if not, then they could end up in the cheap seats like McLaren and STR before them.
So, if we assume Honda and Renault have done the biz:
Mercedes
Red Bull
Ferrari
Renault/McLaren
STR
Hass/Alfa/RP
Williams

Tier 1: Ferrari
Tier 2: Mercedes
Red Bull
Tier 3: Renault
Tier 4: McLaren
Haas
Tier 5: Toro Rosso
Racing Point
Alfa
Williams
Reasons:
Feel like Ferrari will take yet another step this season, they've been getting closer and closer overall to Merc so I reckon they'll have jumped them at the start of this season.
Red Bull and Merc slightly behind, hoping the Honda will be strong. Renault a step above the midfield but still comfortably behind the top 3. McLaren and Haas looking best of the rest after that, Haas should be strong again, with that Ferrari backing.
TR, RP, Alfa and Williams will be a step behind, but all fairly equal.

Maybe used the wrong word there, both Haas and Alfa have Ferrari backing but Haas seems to be closely following Ferraris concept as they did last year, whereas Alfa seem to be doing their own thing.

CFD? I don't think any team has shown their actual aero package, just new liveries and the monocoque, right? It's fine to speculate, but to pretend it's some sort of calculated guess based on what's been shown is not quite right.
At this point, I simply want Mercedes to be in 4th. Red Bull in 1st or 2nd. Anyone else in 3rd. I truly want some upsets and close racing this year.
Also, hoping for McLaren to be dead last for blaming all of their ills on Honda. Last year should be just the beginning of the karmic retribution. Schadenfreude.

This years Ferrari is an evolution of last years - as is the Haas, so the helping hand they (perhaps) received for the last car still has an effect on the current one via natural design evolution. I'd imagine Haas, other than buying Ferrari parts being far more out in the cold now than they were 12 months ago.

What if McLaren just made a mistake on the last car, and the 2 before that were actually good cars?

Amazed to see so many people are assuming Honda have caught up after 4 years of pathetic under performing. I think we are more likely to see Red Bull struggling in the midfield with poor reliability than challenging at the front and genuine speed.

Because Red Bull had the data from Toro Rosso's Honda vs their own data from the Renault. There is no "assumption" from that. The team's words were if they had the Honda unit they would have done just as good if not better in 2018. They would have won the same races etc. And the Honda last year didn't seem that unreliable vs the Renault in their cars.

I think Red Bull is playing the long game with Honda. Also, as the PU is lighter and smaller than the Renault, there are packaging gains available that could offset a little of any lack in the Honda PU across a race. As long as the Honda PU lasts and isn't miles behind the Renault, it's a net gain for Red Bull. That's a large 'if' however considering Honda's history in this rule-set. If Renault has made the gains it's suggesting, Red Bull may have made a massive mistake in jumping when they did - however, if Honda have addressed their shortcomings - then Red Bull will look like stars catching Honda at just the right time. Either way, going to be interesting.

I can't list anything that hasn't already been suggested, except to ask why most believe that the Torro Rosso will be so far behind Redbull?
