I can't list anything that hasn't already been suggested, except to ask why most believe that the Torro Rosso will be so far behind Redbull?

Because they're not running the same chassis - so downforce levels won't be the same.  Also, the Red Bull bits they're running are last years.

I don't want this to be an illegal driver vs driver post but you have to consider the possibility that perhaps people on this thread have the perception that Max is significantly better than Daniil.

Maybe because they inevitably are? Toro Rosso have only ever finished higher than 7th in the WCC once, which was 2008 when they were 6th. Red Bull finished 7th, 7th, 5th and 7th in their early years, but since 2009 their worst one 4th, in 2015.

I am always amused by people who seem to think that they can look at a car and tell how fast it is going to go - Do they really think that they know more than the designers and the team? I can recall that time-honoured phrase first said to me by Bob Sparshott: "When the flag drops the bullsh*t stops..."

So many ways to look at this... best speed, number of laps, apparent tire wear, etc.

I'll go with speed.

1) Ferrari
2) Mercedes
3) Renault

4) Haas

5) Red Bull

6) McLaren
7) McLaren
8) Toro Rosso

I think Ferrari and Mercedes will be so close that it will be difficult to say which was genuinely fastest. I genuinely believe that Red Bull will be caught out badly.

You probably wont see the full potential of the top teams, my guess is Renault, Sauber and Haas will show well, everyone will get excited about the possibilities and then come Melbourne it will be another crushing Mercedes win, the entire field outside of the top 2 or 3 teams will be lapped by half distance.

Yeh, I guess I'm just wondering if the big teams are gonna want to have their B teams as close as possible now, to use them more tactically and take points off their rivals and have their backs.

Whether RB are fighting Ferrari & Mercedes for the title, or fighting Renault for 3rd, Having TR running at a similar pace, is surely desirable..

The only know truth in F1 is that McLaren will disappoint. Everything else is unknown

I think Mercedes will look slower than they are, Red Bull will look faster than they are and Ferrari will be honest.

Renault and Haas together 4th & 5th.

McLaren, Alfa, & North America close together.

Toro Rosso & Williams a little bit back looking faster than they are.
