And also a track that has no chicanes in its layout, a tight turn 1 (might be action there with both the F3 & F2s, also a race weekend for them) plus something that Lewis Hamilton likes on this race track Gravel traps. So the only penalty talk this race might be due to a tangle and not because of track limits

Last years race was full of drama.

Maybe there'll be some this year as well?

After the eighth success of Mercedes in 8 Grand Prix races in this 2019 Formula 1 season that took place in France, the eyes are on the next Austrian Grand Prix. Toto Wolff team principal of the German team, despite his team dominating the championship, remains cautious. The Austrian fears that the characteristics of the track of the next Grand Prix will favor Ferrari. "Le Castellet, like Barcelona, is a favorable circuit for our car. All these curves favor our single-seater but in Austria it will be totally different ”.

Driving to Graz tomorrow morning 5AM. Will be seated at the end of the Start / Finish straight all weekend. Really looking forward to my first time at the Red Bull Ring. Any good suggestions or tips?

Hate to burst your bubble... but their is more tarmac than gravel here. I believe this track started it all around 2002 even.

On this occasion you've got to give Toto some leeway, given the straights of Bahrain, Canada and possibly Baku suited the Ferrari.

You’d like to think so wouldn’t you. I’m sure it won’t stop them though.

Will be attending the race weekend, me and my brother take the old man as a present for his 75th birthday, 39 years after he took us to Zandvoort for our first GP. He is still a frequent visitor of historic races and never saw/heard these hybrid V6T, so I hope he'll appreciate the gesture :p

Anyway, the weather looks to be good, staying in Graz from friday till Monday, rental car for transport to the track and a 3 corner ticket for the weekend, with seats on Steiermark on Sunday, sure we'll have a good time either way

Track should suit Ferrari nearly as good as Montreal and it's one - if not the - weakest track for Hamilton. Perhaps we'll get the result the majority wants ;)

1-2 Mercedes easily. They should do it even with Bottas

F1 has a habit of producing thrillers immediately after massive fan outcry (Australia 2010, Bahrain 2014). I have a few friends who swear blind that strings are being pulled behind the scenes, WWE style... yeah right.

Hoping the altitude doesn't hamper Ferrari's challenge. Looking scorchio again, and always the outside chance of a shower.

Shorter lap will be interesting in quali. I think Red Bull will again be vulnerable to the midfield. Hopefully Mercedes don't dominate the final sector.

Hasn't been a good track for Hamilton with 1 win and 1 pole out of 5. Bottas has 1 win and 2 poles out of 2 with Merc.

Mercedes 4/5. Last year both cars broke down.

I don't think Ferrari will be as strong as Canada. There are more longer corners.

Toto Wolff spoke post-France of a few cooling issues, echoed in Mark Hughes' race report.

Altitude, scorchio, maybe this is the Mercedes weakness, as seen last year.

It will probably rain now, lol.

Looking forward to this one but will probably still be a Mercedes 1 - 2, hope Ferrari can challenge, doubt Redbull can.

I fully expect a Ferrari walk at this track. This and Monza I think are simply too much with the Ferrari MGU-H. Not many opportunities for them this year, but this one is prime.

Yeah, so they only run half a second a lap faster now.

No rain, Europe is melting this week.

Hamilton's weakest track and long straight galore for the Ferrari engine. If they don't beat him here it won't happen soon again.

Was apparently raining last Sunday too, as it was in Monaco, as it was in Canada...I've given up, it'll never rain again on race day.

If Hamilton wins this, good bet he is going to break Vettel's 9 in a row, this is the only difficult one I see for him. I just hope that the media doesn't lap it up and go all Bottas 2.0 again if Bottas does win on Sunday.

Edit: Also just watched the 2018 highlights and its reminded me how so many people where saying race over when Mercedes led 1-2 and then look what happened!.... I doubt it will happen this time.

There are enough places for Vettel to spin and Leclerc to mess up his suspension in Q.

Got a feeling, might not be Mercedes' weekend, not saying they wont be competitive pace-wise, but my unscientific gut feeling says Hamilton retires from the race, Bottas has a coming together with Vettel and either Verstappen or Lecelrc take the win :drunk:

Actually 1 win and 2 poles (2015, 2016). But yeah, not one of his strongest circuits. My money is still on him winning it this time around.

At least we know why we have tarmac run off on this track. We had turn 1 issues and turn 3 issues here before. at least that runoff is on the outside and not inside.

I think it’s just his paranoia that keeps him focused on doing a brilliant job!
