My guess is that all owners have money in the game mate.
Pay-owner-driver? No, that's not it either. More coffee . . .

I've only been watching indycars this season so I know next to nothing about it still but.. I have to ask, is Marco Andretti only driving because of his last name, is he another Bruno Senna?
(Not just because of this mistake but I've not really seen him do one impressive thing all season)

My guess is that not one person here could match this Andretti wanker.
In a race car? No doubt. In a criminal courtroom? Bring it!
Meanwhile we have another weekend trying to figure out how a career racer with obvious skill, a substantial pedigree, and the resources of an elite team is, in this instance, three miles per hour adrift of the field. Folks with greater racing knowledge than I possess have no answers either.

Don't count on a second lane . . .

I guess we'll find out early if the optimists in this regard, Power and perhaps Ferrucci, were on to something.

I'll say this about Marco: Others might have blown smoke up his azz, but he's never struck me as someone who actually believed what they were saying. Also, he never wrecks anyone and rarely wrecks himself.

A few other "pay owner drivers" have been Dan Gurney, A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti (1968) and, I believe, Chip Ganassi who was a partial owner with Pat Patrick in 1983. Sprints and midgets also have seen many owner drivers over the years.Pay-owner-driver?

Oh, I know, which is why i backtracked immediately in search of caffeine. Some thoughts just never cohere . . .

NASCAR (and other stock car racing) has been filled with them too, several quite successful.

In that photo, Indycat looks more non-plussed to me, but I've been wrong before.
I am not a fan of Crass either:

And, why you lot named a city after that band Chelsea, I will never understand.

Robby Gordon still does. He took it another step and funded his own series with an energy drink company he started to fund the racing.
I had a few Crass records back when they came out then figured out they were serious about that whole anarchy thing.

I haven't seen anything reported on it. What was it?
Trouble late in practice. Hard to tell they kept blocking the camera F1 style. Chevy brought over what looked like an ecu case and the team were changing ignition parts. They couldn’t get back out as one of the Carlins whacked the wall pretty hard but they did run through the gears, high revs, on stands at he end of the session.

if I'm correct the race starts at 02:45 CET ... that will be a late night then

Thanks. So either Penske has had a whole day to address it, or I need to rethink my fantasy picks. Or both.

Great laps by Newgarden and Bourdais, would have loved to see Bourdais P1 though
I'll try to stay up for the race. My only plans for tomorrow is gardening, and that can wait.

I love investing in odd times to watch racing.
Usually there is peace and quiet in my house or no one in the lobby of whatever hotel I’m in.
Folks need to embrace the time change from wherever they are.

All the time talk reminds me of all the times I got up, pre-VCR, to watch F1 live on the West Coast of the U.S., or the times where I got up to watch even with the VCR...and had to reset it because the drivers couldn't get through the first chicane at the old Osterreichring without piling up, or doing the same at Spa. After the second restart, I said ***** it, and went to bed.
