Indeed, thank you Don, and all those who have pushed, coaxed, cajoled, nursed and otherwise propelled us along (for so long). Here's to 'endurance racing'...!

I’m trying to think back to what life was like ‘before TNF’. I was starting to lose interest in modern motor sport and beginning to wonder why I was cluttering up the place with all these books and magazines when I knew only a handful of people who shared similar interests. Perhaps it was time for a mass clearout, and a move on to pastures new.

Then I was told about TNF, nearly eighteen years ago, and was amazed. Firstly that there were so many people who did share my interest, and secondly by the incredible level of knowledge that so many TNFers have.

I’ve learnt so much in my time here. TNF is still by far my favourite place on the net, and long may it continue. Thank you to all those who made it happen in the first place and continue to keep it going. I’ll be hanging on to all those bloody books and magazines for a while longer, it seems ...

Long may TNF reign.

As Don described here in Melbourne 3 weeks ago the Atlas/TNF 'birth' wasn't without its difficulties with regards difference of opinion. Given the different countries and walks of life we lead, there's been a few difference of opinion since! However, things are in good care with Tim and Richard (backed by a comment Don made that evening in Melbourne) so hopefully there's still room for TNF members to post interesting stuff, dispell the odd myth or help a member (often from another part of the globe) understand or help find an answer to what went on with their favourite marque half a world away.

My relatively short time here has been quite rewarding. The stuff I've learned is amazing, and the banter is very enjoyable.

And thanks to Ray, my knowledge of grammar, and where apostrophe's should go has really improved...

Thank you to Don and everyone else who made TNF special.  And who continue to do so.

Road racing from "the good old days" (however you define that) is one of the few things that holds my interest, and without TNF, I'd have had no one to talk to these past almost 20 years.

Oh, is it that time of the year, again? And a nice round number this year, too!

Like Tim, I wasn't sure if or how my love for the (past of this) sport was going to be sustained until I discovered TNF. It was a breath of fresh air for my interests, almost a kiss of life! Still is my first port of call (almost) every day, and long may it continue!

Thank you ALL for making it happen!! :)

Sadly too many have passed away during this time.

I've only been here for approximately half of the 20 years - it is a most enjoyable way to keep up with the sport and the friends met along the way. Thank you Don.

20 years old ? That's quite a milestone. Congratulations !

I feel almost a fraud, being a very new member indeed ; albeit with a very long enthusiasm for cars and motor sport - as indicated by my Forum 'name'. I've become addicted to the 'search' function here which is an absolute goldmine of information so I should also say many Thanks to all contributors here......

Always loved the Ah but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now. tagline that Sebastian Tombs uses!

If only, but in a sense it is why this place means so much to me because I have learnt such a lot and I have been fortunate to meet many wonderful people - it's almost as if I have re-lived the happy days I enjoyed watching racing decades ago.

Thank you, Don. Sincerely.

Coming in a bit late...
In a conversation with DCN back in 2002 he told me about Forix, Lief and TNF, saying "there's some good stuff on there, you'll enjoy it"
There is, I did, and I do.
Particular thanks to Don, whom I was pleased to meet on his visits here, and to all contributors. Like most here, I have learned a lot, and tried to give a bit back. A real joy is the global element , where those of us "over here" have learnt much about racing history "over there" , wherever that might happen to be. And the archive material so generously shared is a real bonus to people like me, suckers for the joys of old photographs.
Many thanks to all for it all.
Roger Lund.

PS ; I know we all value having known, or known of, David McKinney.
PPS; and without TNF how else would I have had the royal tour of Warwick Farm had I not got to know Ray Bell?

Well, it's been written by a Nobel Prize, after all ...... :smoking:

Hard to believe it's been 16 years for me too. TNF is the first forum I registered on to when I dicovered the internet. Although what originally brought me here was my passion for car racing of the 60/70's, the birth and (originally) fast development of the motorcycle racing section was an enormous bonus for me. In recent years, I spent a marvelous evening in Christchurch, New-Zealand, and a splendid day at Eastern Creek, Sydney, with a large group of former motorcycle Grand Prix riders, mechanics, team managers, or journalists ... whom I used to read about in the press as a teenager, and whom I originally connected with through TNF - and then got to know in real life. Absolutely marvelous ... :D

As one of the ‘Johnny Come Latelies’ to this forum I dips me hat to you all and thank you for the creation of an extraordinary living archive of automotive treasure.

Special thanks to Don- it has been great to see and spend some time with you at ‘Automotive Historians Australia’ gigs in Melbourne in the last two years- you are all welcome by the way, even Don will tell you ‘snot that far... (sic)

My primotipo stuff is enhanced weekly by the research you all continue to do- so my perspective is perhaps different to some of you in that I am a consumer of the material, as well as occasional contributor.

There is a place for our treasured book collections but I ALWAYS look for the latest on TNF.

And yes Don- footnotes, footnotes, footnotes...

Thanks all- what a wonderful, global club TNF is

Mark
