Vettel at fault. What a careless move.

Have to re-watch, but I'd say 100% Vettel

Obviously Vettel. His attempts to bully other drivers in wheel-to-wheel situations always seem to rebound, and he just doesn't learn. He moved a car's width towards Leclerc who didn't.

Turkey 2010 take two.
Vettel has not the mental strength to fight wheel to wheel.

Could have made it stick if kept it straight, but for some reason moved in to Leclerc. WHY SEB?
Anger
He was surprised by Leclerc fantastic overtake.
It was pure road rage once again

Seb is a danger on track!
Silly to think a 4wdc to lack spatial awarness but there you go.
Sack him ffs.

100% Vettel fault. Karma to Leclerc for swiping Bottas at Hungary?
#17
Posted 17 November 2019 - 18:48
Vettel should be sacked
really, sack him for such a small mistake ? Biased much ?
#18
Posted 17 November 2019 - 18:49
The movement and contact was relatively small but with huge consequences.

One of the many mistakes.

Well, Vettel needs to tread carefully now. He isn't the future, Leclerc is. He isn't going to win the political game.

I don't think it's that obvious. No reason for Vettel to squeeze Lec to the inside, but it's Leclerc who has the better view of what's happening. They are both 50% idiots in this imo.

How is that even possible...

No need for Vettel to go left. All his fault.

When you are going so close together side by side, then you start to go towards the other car, what do you expect? He didn't learn from Turkey in 2010 at all.

Need to see some replays to be honest. It looks like Vettel's fault, but it is marginal. Unlucky for such small contact to cause so much damage.

I have no bias, i just think he's past his best and making far too many mistakes for a top team

Nobody's fault, such small contact shouldn't break the car, we see contact all the time between cars and nothing happens, this was just a freak incident.

It was his 87th "small" mistake.

How is the penalty point tally looking for Vettel?
#39

Reminded me of Turkey 2010. Vettel turning into his teammate.

This isn't to defend Vettel but remember Leclerc pulling a similar swipe at Norris in the early laps? Perez did it in Singapore last year too, IIRC. They're all at it - horrible driving.
#41
Posted 17 November 2019 - 18:57
Morons both. Leclerc's initial squeeze was ridiculous, Vettel then moves.. why.
However if there was any justice Leclerc would have been out on lap 1, what he did to Norris was far far far worse and only Norris somehow spotting it avoided a big crash.

It's not the consequence of the incident that is penalized, it is the actual incident.
It's a freaking dangerous move.

Lewis is driving like mad man the last two laps and Vettel gets the flag for race incident in close racing, this was nothing like Turkey 2011, here minor contact with horrible consequences.
No it wasn't, but it was very much like Turkey 2010

50/50 in my book. It can happen when both drivers are trying to minimize the space they're giving to the other guy, then all it takes is the slightest trajectory deviation... which bears the question of why the **** are they both doing this to their team-mate.
#45
Posted 17 November 2019 - 19:00
Vettels fault, but the crime was much smaller than the consequences. No penalty for me.
#46
Posted 17 November 2019 - 19:01
What amazes me is how the hell such as a light contact cause so much damage?
#47
Posted 17 November 2019 - 19:02
LEc drove towards the middle of the road, VET pulled up alongside and veered into him. If LEC maintains trajectory, which he did, I don't see how he could be at fault.
Imagine being in your lane on the highway and the guy passing you scrapes your door. The guy behind has the best view, Vettel is 100% at fault here.
No penalty, not finishing is bad enough. Small mistake huge consequences.

Few posts removed. Not every thread has to be about Hamilton instead, and indeed when he’s not involved at all, it’s just derailing.

It was but a minor touch... I think vettel was looking for a bit more room in expectation for the incoming corner and Leclerc didn't move.
