One of the first races I can remember watching live. Mainly because of a three-wheeled Ferrari and a very colourful podium.

Another race with a really long delay at the start! I'm sure they're doing this deliberately now.

Just how much of the 50 minute red flag will they treat us to?
#5

I never actually saw the last few laps of this at the time. I was out with my family so we set the VCR to record the race. Unfortunately, the tape ran out with about 3 laps to go.

I hope they don't cut the red flag interruption

I can't bear to watch this one. I'm still fuming about the DC-MS contact with DC already messing about most of the lap.

I still have to laugh at the Ferrari coming out of the spray resembling a Reliant Robin

This race really put me off DC and set me away from supporting drivers because of nationality. I‘ve never really gone back to it since. I felt really aggrieved for Schumacher, genuinely. I thought DC messed around and tried to deliberately screw him up, not for the first or last time. He had a real Schumacher complex, didn’t he?
That’s why I liked Mika, he raced with respect. Conveniently forgetting his F3 clash at Macau with Schumi anyway.
How accurate that memory of the DC/Schumacher crash is, I’ll find out later on I guess.

Strangely I can't find the race's transmission channel on YouTube (they usually put it up there with anticipation)

Spotter's guide:

It might rain

I did not know it was called Benetton-Playlife

On the basis of that spotter's guide I predict good performances from Fisichella, Hill, Alesi, Diniz and Tuero. The others might struggle.

The design of the front of the Tyrrell is really interesting!

There hasn't been any changes in sectors since.
1st sector ends at the end of Kemmel straight
2nd sector ends before the Stavelot corner

Looks really wet! Inters might be a bit of a gamble

That start crash was pure carnage. Imagine that happening now, with no spare cars.
#23
Posted 27 May 2020 - 18:13
Are they going to stream the full red flag?!
#24

Rosset
#25
Posted 27 May 2020 - 18:14
Looks like Rosset wasn't paying much attention there.
#26

Rosset crashing into the pile of already wrecked cars.

Johnny Herbert running! It must be serious.
I was just going to say that surprised me - his Wikipedia says that his horrible foot injuries left him permanently unable to run.
Also I think it is surprising to see Martin & Murray speculating that Ferrari might not let Irvine take the spare car just in case Schumacher needs it later.

It is easier to list drivers who got through:
Häkkinen
M Schumacher
Villeneuve
Frentzen
Hill
R Schumacher
Alesi
Fisichella
Tuero
Verstappen got puncture/suspension damage but got his car back to the grid.

Hakkinen's accident could have been really nasty, head-on like that. Was there contact with Schumacher?

DC out of the race for the second time! or is he
Third time's a charm.

If Hills career had been run backwards his stock would have been much higher.

Damon really nailed the second start.

Why are SSF1 doing their 1995 Belgian GP re-watch at the same time?
They should superimpose both sets of cars over the top like in Ghost mode on Mario Kart
