Luca Corberi and Paolo Ippolito had an incident on track.

After that Corberi retired and throws car parts at Ippolito during the race, neglects Stewards, crosses the track waling back to paddock.

After the race Corberi physically assaults Ippolito and it seems Corberi's family and team members are joining the assault.

Hopefully a permanent ban from any sort of racing. Hopefully jail, actually. Throwing something at a speeding kart is attempted murder.

As a 23yo driver you should know better. Ban him from any racing track, for life.

Watch the relevant authorities do nothing.

Should be a lifetime ban.

In one of the more infamous moments of the Red Bull junior program, they signed Dan Ticktum after he was banned for two years for overtaking 10 cars under SC in order to purposely crash into his rival.

As a 23yo driver you should know better. Ban him from any racing track, for life.

23?! That makes it even worse, I thought he was a teenager. Not that it would be an excuse...

He should receive a lifetime ban from any form of motorsport. And an police investigation. The only time I've seen someone with that level of aggression they were on both cocaine and steroids...

Even more bizarre: according to the RaceFans, Luca Corberi's family operates the track i.e. hosted the event...

In which case the circuit should lose it's FIA accreditation and shouldn't host World Championship events in the future.

Similar to that horrible amateur karting clip from a weeks ago. I wonder if the virality of said clip somehow emboldened this guy ... absolutely awful. Being witness to such acts of violence just makes me sick to my stomach.

2 questions:

Is that really the FIA main karting series ? Oh wow, beyond embarrassing.

Also what's a 20+ year old dude doing racing fighting little kids ?

Doubt it, as this is supposedly not his first rodeo MMA.

It's a mix of kids who see karting as the first step towards car racing, together with older "specialists". Always been like that  :)

not really, he needed his dad's help  :rotfl:

Seriously, I've watched those videos and he seems on drugs...

I suspect every national scene must have a percentage of sad angry drivers who did not make it in racing and therefore act like bellends on and off track, but this kind of scene has been too frequent at karting and amateur car meetings in Italy, something's wrong there. I feel very embarassed.

I do not know the guy but since his family owns the track it might be a case of feeling entitled to do whatever he wants there, "above the law"

I would guess he was frustrated already, he was falling backwards quite rapidly.

You, you can see he lifts his kart up, so the front is higher up the lap previous, you can see the front bumper he takes off there.

Lifetime ban, and the Old Bill should be wanting more than a quiet word. Throwing debris like that at someone doing speed is no better than dropping pavement slabs off of a bridge on a motorway.

I'm reluctant to say ban for life because people do make mistakes however reckless those mistakes may be. But he certainly needs a ban to illustrate that sort of behaviour isn't acceptable in any form of motorsport. Not only did he put other drivers at risk but he put himself at risk too. Stupid.

@JensonButton

Luca Corberi has just destroyed any chance he had at a racing career after his disgusting behaviour today at the FIA Karting World champs. His father owns the circuit and is seen power driving the guy into a wall, Life ban for both of these idiots please

I don't care who his Dad is, I trust he's not above the law. I will wait and watch with interest to see what is done about this.

There are enough inherent dangers in motorsport without competitors and their families having to worry about this kind of thing.

The video attached to this tweet almost seems worse than the incident itself. That's a middle aged man plowing into what looks like a kid. He doesn't even have the excuse of being filled with adrenaline and not thinking straight. Disgraceful.

Who was being beaten up and how old? And did he even hit the "right" driver with the bumper?

Both are adults. Well, at least in age. And I don't think he hit the intended guy no.

And at many kart tracks - at least according to some of my ex-marshalling colleagues who have done some stewarding at karting events - Beware of the Karting Dads

I guess that is a question for the circuit owner/event promotor - that is if anyone is brave enough to ask...

Contrary to popular belief, Karting isn't just a junior category. For example, Ben Hanley returned to gokarts after his single seater career ended and he was a quite decent racer still (beating a young Max Verstappen in 2013 if I remember correctly).

Button has called for a lifetime ban for this idiot and his equally brainless father... 100% agree with him. The Police should be looking into this...
