Throttle magazine was published in the US for one year only in 1941, the first Hot Rod magazine. A reprint was done about 10 years ago of all the issues in one volume, unfortunately out of print.

I’ve been told that there are pictures of the cars Tommy Lee took to the dry lakes in 1941 and would like to find if anyone has access to a copy to either sell it, loan or look through it to see if there are any such pictures. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks

Paul

I have the book and I have looked through it for you but there are no pictures of the Lee cars. There is a report on the '41 Russetta meeting that states "Tommy Lee drove his his Bugatti sedan Spec. It seems that one of these Bugattis should be mounted in a light roadster and really go screaming". Lee clocked a speed of 112.21. This is on page 96 of the book, or page 8 of the June 1941 issue. That's the only entry for Lee in the index.

Great photos and footage!

Wonder if the Bugatti survives? Looks like a Type 51.
