Best driver: Hamilton for driving like a champion.
Worst driver: Vettel - here we go again. At least Mazepin is a rookie, but Vettel going straight into Ocon has no excuse!!!
Best team: Mercedes for overcoming their deficit.
Worst team: Haas
Best overtake: Tsunoda on Alonso !
Best moment: Verstappen vs. Hamilton for the win!
Worst moment: Vettel's overtake  on Ocon!

A solid start to hopefully, an interesting season! The biggest highlight for me is Red Bull 's work over the winter. I was rooting for Max and wanted him to win, but I'm not mad at all, because the race was simply very good and exciting! What I enjoyed most were the fight of Alonso, Sainz & Vettel, Norris in action and of course, the battle for the victory! I hope that we do see a tight battle and that Hamilton & Mercedes won't run away with both titles again!

The biggest let down has to be Vettel for not only hitting Ocon, but failing to realize yet again, that it was his own fault. I hope we won't see a repeat of the Ferrari years in green when it comes to mistakes, but he already started on the wrong foot!

Definitely further back than 2010! That year was the year they used the awful "endurance" layout of Sakhir with that ridiculous middle sector. I think we might be looking as far back as 2003 for an opener that runs this one close.

I thought button won 2010 opening race for McLaren in aus?

No, that was the second race of the season. The Sakhir race was first.

[mod hat]

Please stop using 'funny' names for Mazepin.

This race was a blast, start to finish. From the drama of Perez maybe not starting to his racing through the field, midfield battle at every lap, strategic dice rolling, a rooking making us all smile (Yuki!!!), and a battle to the line by the two best drivers in the field. If someone wants more they need to change the channel. My wife and I both were on edges of seats, cheering and cringing as little mistakes and brilliant moves in the final battle between Hamilton and Verstappen. We had fun.
