Race day folks!

 

And Melbourne turns on the weather for y'all. Probably going to be the last sunny and warm day we have for another 6 months so soak it in  

 

Looking like a Ferrari vs RBR battle for the win, can someone else spring a surprise? It's GO GO GO! in about 45mins time...

Considering the time of year I'm really surprised there's been no rain all weekend. The wind will definitely catch some drivers out I think through the race

Properly excited for this race. It feels different to the previous two races. And there is something special about waking up at 5:30 to watch a sporting event from the other side of the world.

I'm at the track, it's hoooooot. We've been roasting in the sun since 9am.

Did they mess up the start time with the later race this year? Usually the race would be in March before DST ends, but now it's after. With a 3pm start (4pm for qualifying) the sun is just too low towards the end of the session.

I am so rough could not sleep, never can with the Aussie GP. My brain gets to excited first race of the season. But it is not.

I tend to stay up and watch a lot of historic Aussie programming. This year involve watching a highlights reel of Bea Smith on the steam press.

For the reputation of Melbourne to have inclement weather, it is pretty amazing we've only had two (?) rain affected races in 25 events. I lived there for a bit and even mid summer you could get pretty grim days.

Amazing given the rain affected races we saw in Adelaide, albeit a different time of year.
