Say hello to my little race day thread...
 
I'm so sorry, I think I'm stuck in David Croft mode after trying to predict which Miami pop culture references he would crowbar in this weekend. Anyway, so here we are, going to Miami and what have we learned? Well, that the track has definitely caught a lot of attention thanks to the determined approach the organisers took to being denied permission to build a track around the bay, no problem they just built their own marina...and their own water:
 

 
I'm going to level with you, I think the fake water is quite clever and that the whole thing is pretty funny in a good way. Less smile generating is the track itself, already seeing a huge hit which ruled Ocon out of qualifying. Fingers crossed for the race because nothing's going to change ahead of the race. In quali itself, this is how the drivers ended up:
 

 
No sprint race, just fast laps and Leclerc starting on pole.

Ferrari missed a golden opportunity to run a Miami Vice white livery with the neon blue and pink as accents. Complete with the hats, shirts and other merch, it would have been a collector’s item.

both mediums are used tyres , the hard is brand new

Are you thinking that Max can go for Medium-Hard-medium?

Ferrari cannot afford that they have to go with Medium-hard-hard, or soft

No, these are the brand new tyres everyone has saved. If it's a one stopper then no big deal, everyone will go M-H.

If it's a two stopper, then we could see that one team got it wrong.

Pirelli thinks it's a two stopper, with the MHH and MMH combinations being equally fast.

I think it'll be a two stopper without any SCs. Don't see too much difference between M/M/H and M/H/H, if anything the former will give you a better undercut opportunity.

Should also be quite a long race by modern F1 standards, just about hitting 90 mins without SCs.

Why so many complaints about the asphalt on this circuit? is it because they used a different aggregate to the other circuits? There was an article that they used limestone along with granite at this circuit, while everywhere else it is granite. Is it so bad or divers just exaggerating? How was it in the Formula Women's race?

Bloody hell... 13 grand for a sporting weekend. I'd expect to eat the finest yellow fin tuna sashimi off Charles Leclerc's stomach for that price.
