Well, Alpine has confirmed him, he now tweeted this

Oscar Piastri
@OscarPiastri
I understand that, without my agreement, Alpine F1 have put out a press release late this afternoon that I am driving for them next year. This is wrong and I have not signed a contract with Alpine for 2023. I will not be driving for Alpine next year.

We have our own Palou on our hands here!

So indeed we have Palou Mk.2 on our hands.

I don’t understand this at all. It’s just too weird that two separate teams in two separate series would both do the same thing and announce a driver who then immediately denies the announcement. The McLaren connection is there of course, but how are they getting it so wrong.

Something stinks here.

If this is Zak Brown again, he's doing a madness.

Interestingly he unequivocally says he will not be driving for Alpine next year, as opposed to something like "I have not signed a contract for Alpine yet". That can only mean he's headed to Mclaren or somewhere else outside of F1. I wonder if this episode will mean Alpine lose Piastri for good.

So, McLaren got... 7 drivers and 7 seats? Problem is that 2 of those seats are in Formula E and none of the 7 drivers wants to drive there.

Did Alpine sign the Ferrari strategy team to handle their driver contracts??

Losing Piastri and Alonso in the course of 2 days…

If you ever change jobs guys, just double check you haven’t already signed a contract with Zak Brown.

I mean, it is a risky move by Piastri/Webber: there is a possibility - even if it can be small - of ruining his career.

Second massive WTF moment in two days. Crazy stuff!

Sounds like Mclaren might have at least four F1 drivers under contractr for next year :p

Lost in all of this is that Danny Ric is at this moment likely without a drive for 2023. Yes he can join Alpine but will he end up there? Remains to be seen

Surely this just confirms that Piastri wants to go elsewhere now?

I’d hazard a guess Piastri wants McLaren more, so Danny might have to get very creative in all of this.

Piastri IS driving for Mclaren. It’s career suicide otherwise.

I like this strategy from Mclaren. Get all their competitors involved in legal battles involving drivers and while they're distracted, focus in developing the car..

Zak Brown has been taking swings at the F1 establishment for the last 2 years. We are naive not to have seen this coming.

When I saw the tweet I thought it had to be someone trying to be a bit clever with Palou’s tweet…but it seems genuine, crazy!

So Piastri must have an iron clad contract elsewhere. Bet Fernando is loving this. Someone at Alpine has royally f'd up.

Alpine might have to go back to Daniel. Not sure who else they could really get at this point. Apart from the other 37 drivers Zak Brown has signed.

Alonso tweeted a picture of him at his go-kart track in Spain.

Thing for Ricciardo is, if he puts the emotion of being dumped out of it, it’s probably a better career move than getting absolutely trousered by Lando for another year.

No reason why next years Alpine won’t be a match for Mclaren.

Well, if he does end up at Alpine he'll have been their 3rd choice for the seat (at best).

I'm 100 % convinced he did this on purpose. Alonso retur to F1 is basically one big troll fest anyway

Drive to Survive are going to have some super edited clip of Piastri checking his phone with ominous music in the background aren't they when it's this episode next year.
