Easy win for RB (Max).

But hope to make the best of it, even if the worst happens. Is anybody else from the forum going to be at the race?

I think Ferrari will throw everything at this race, and normally it's a straightforward one stop.Easy win for RB (Max).
Engine turned up to 11, all the downforce trimmed off, and the cars is very supple over the kerbs with great traction.

There were some reports yesterday of issues with track prep? New tarmac? Some grandstands not quite ready?

Hamilton starting from the back (engine penalty).

Presumably being an international event it wont be cancelled ?

The car is slow unfortunately.

It won't be cancelled. But I wouldn't be 100% confident of it being broadcast in the UK this weekend.

Seeing how Nyck de Vries is doing Fridays for almost half the grid, and all teams he's been doing Fridays for still need one more Friday-rookie. I think he should change his name to Nyck de Vrieday!

You may be right - especially if it was the BBC but then again people have paid for coverage so we will see.

I doubt that will be the case. As sad as it may be, life does go on.

Not sure - both Sky and F1 are very image sensitive these days.

He fits the Mercedes lineup perfectly.
Nyck - Mr. Friday
George - Mr. Saturday
Lewis - Mr. Sunday

Then they have the Monday Blues.
Quite fitting that as well.

He does seem to nick friday practise away from a lot of drivers!

I can imagine the British or British-based teams might run in subdued colours or something. Like the Ferraris in 2001.

Why would it be cancelled?
I assume you're thinking about the Queen, but I may be wrong?
Life goes on, Italy isn't part of the commonwealth. If it was the British GP I could half understand but even then I think it would go ahead.

Lewis will have a big pic of 'Her Maj's' face on top of his helmet, for sure.

Some of the teams are British - most are based here and as I said above - image is everything these days.

It’s hard to find any precedent though. George VI died in February. By the time the F1/F2 season truly got underway, the official mourning had passed, even including the Syracuse GP in March.

I mean...I see what you're saying, but racing some cars around isn't exactly disrespectful. As PAYR has said, there'll be lots of tributes on cars and maybe even a minute silence. They won't cancel the GP though.

More gravel added in Variante Ascari & exit Parabolica
https://twitter.com/...6tYdAohBUr_zBOQ
This seems like a country in recession and with a lot of people without a job, and they try to find "work" for people to do, just to keep the economy rolling. One year remove all gravel and lay asphalt, not long after, get the gravel back.
Gotta keep the local economy rolling. Especially now that AC Monza, after 110 years are playing their first season in Serie A - and thus avoids the "most seasons in Serie B without ever playing Serie A" record. However, got to show that the racing track is still getting money to the town and workers now that football is taking off, also in Monza.

I wonder if any broadcaster will mention it?

On a lighter note: last Saturday (3rd) was the centenary of the first race meeting at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, the Gran Premio della Vetturette, won by Pietro Bordino for Fiat. Qualifying day this weekend will be 100 years since the first Gran Premio d'Italia at the track, also won by Bordino (and the second race in the series following the 1921 event at Brescia).
I wonder if any broadcaster will mention it?
This is the sort of heritage that few GP venues even get a sniff at. Magic!

Tsunoda 10 place grid penalty for 5 reprimands
Hamilton back of the grid engine change
Schumacher back of the grid engine change.
Much like Spa I’m betting there will be more.

No but seriously - even though I'll be rooting for RB and Merc, I will be flying the Ferrari flag starting tonight.

AlphaTauri driver Pierre Gasly will not attend any media or paddock duties today at Monza on the medical advice of a team doctor. The Italian team announced their driver, who won the Italian Grand Prix two years ago, will not be in the Monza paddock on Thursday due to doctors advice. The team has not supplied further details on his condition.
As well as the regular track walk on Thursday which allows drivers and their team to familiarise themselves with any changes to the circuit from the previous year, Gasly will also miss the FIA press conference in which he was due to appear.
It remains to be seen whether Gasly, who currently sits 14th in the drivers’ championship, will return in time to participate in the rest of the weekend.

23) Changes to the circuit
23.1 Turn 1 – Turn 2: Track has been resurfaced.
23.2 Turn 4 – Turn 5: Track has been resurfaced.
23.3 Turn 8 – Turn 10: Track has been resurfaced.
23.4 Turn 8 – Turn 10: The verge on RHS has been reduced to 2.0 metres.
23.5 Turn 11: Starting from the apex, the asphalt run-off has been reduced to 2.0 metres.
23.6 Turn 4 – Turn 5: All rubber kerbs have been removed.
Excellent. I think I suggested a similar modification to the Parabolica back in 2014: keep the all-tarmac run-off early in the corner for cars that head straight off the track at the entry, but restore the gravel trap further into the corner.
The T4/5 rubber kerbs that have been removed are probably these:

Tsunoda 10 place grid penalty for 5 reprimands
Hamilton back of the grid engine change
Schumacher back of the grid engine change.

With the points lead that red Bull have, it wouldn't surprise me if they don't take the chance to add a couple more p.u's into the stock - like Mercedes did in a couple races last season.
