New year, new kit. You and a friend could be on set to help us launch our 2023 Castore Team Kit alongside Max and Checo  in London on the 24th January 2023.
One lucky winner and a friend will be brought to London, where they’ll be treated to a hotel stay + travel to/from the shoot on the day.

The Honda topman @Wazari posted this last night on the Technical forum.

He made a sentence bold in the message from te previous post.

It’s no great secret that a big part of the RB18 performance capability was due to the sophistication and suitability of the suspension systems (front & rear).
Now that the world and it’s pet hamster have had time to work out the kinematics of the system, how do RedBull continue?
Do they develop (reduce mass, improve functionality) based on year of working and racing or do they have something waiting that is even better.
My belief is that it will be the most copied/interpreted thing from 2022 on the grid this year!

I just got off a conference call with some ex-colleagues now at RBPT and the folks at Red Bull are sure excited about the RB19.

Max  bought his 3th Ferrari : an SF90 Stradale Assetto Fiorano.
He also already owns a Ferrari De Monza SP2 and a Ferrari 488 Pista.

Some reports that the RB19 will have a visibly different 'concept'; the bodywork shaped very different than on the RB18.

As an armchair technical expert pretender, I would reason that raising the floor edges by 15mm has a huge impact on all the aero magic that happened last year. Re-doing the floor has a knock-on effect on every other surface, So I'm not surprised if this turned out the be true. Stagnation is the enemy of progress.

Not specifically related to 2023, but a pretty interesting article on Red Bull's development through 2020/21/22, with comments from Pierre Wache.

Any links?

Only thing I have heard is that they are changing the livery.

Reported in Dutch press, who quote Italian Autosprint

The RB19 will be ninety percent a new concept. "That's why a camouflaged RB18 will be shown in New York on February 3."

"From an aerodynamic point of view, the RB19 will be very different"
Still, it is quite strange that Red Bull chooses to develop the car drastically. Earlier there was talk of an upgrade of the car that won the title in a dominant way last year. "From an aerodynamic point of view, the car will be very different. The roundings, the edges and the developments of the surfaces in direct contact with the air will not correspond to the concept of the RB18.'

So many adjustments will also be made under the car. After all, the floor is now the most important part to generate downforce. These changes are based on accurate analysis of performance and data from the 2022 season. Under the leadership of Pierre Waché, and under the supervision of Adrian Newey, the team appears to have significantly increased performance and is likely to maintain its competitive advantage.”

Very interesting. Whatever changes they are (and the 90% number could be minimal changes etc), I trust RB will be building off the car last year anyway, which wasn't exactly slow.

So my guess: Ford announcement today, likely presenting a ford inspired blue and white livery, after which turning up with the normal livery at the first race.

Agree, but any significant changes will be due to the 15mm raise imo.

And all this they did with less wt and CFD time?! Source:  Italian Autosprint.

They only use a camouflage color when they show the real car. No way they take the real car to the USA. At most a show model / slightly modified RB18.

Italian press agency ANSA released a press release that was not to be released up untill the launch of Red Bull later today. It clearly states Ford and Red Bull working together from 2026 onwards. Red Bull to build the engine but Ford paying for it and badging it.
This release was quickly withdrawn but the BBC reported on it. On the mistake by ANSA and the press release itself that is.

Interested to see the car today. Red Bull have to be the favourites again with Max, I expect them almost guaranteed to be fighting for wins from race 1. Just a question of who gets it right and proves their biggest competition.

Just wanted to say that, even though I'm not exactly a Max fan, I do love seeing him race week in, week out. Such an amazing talent and racing driver I just can't believe the levels he is able to reach so consistently.

The RB18 had no weaknesses surprised they are supposedly changing it so much when it was perfect. Was amazing on high downforce and low downforce tracks with incredible tire wear too. One of the all time great F1 cars!

Wait.. it was just a season launch right? Read; livery launch on a show car? I can't imagine for one second that the real car is displayed in New York when so much development work is still usually going on in this stage of the season.

With many suggesting that the 2023 Mercedes will look very different to last year, I half jokingly commented that it could be RB that switches to a concept or rather upper body design that is more in line with Mercedes'.

I'll be gobsmacked if we see anything of the actual RB19 20 days before testing... that said my excitement has started for the season and I can't wait to be left disappointed later today

Laura Davies, Aero Design Engineer at RBR posted this yesterday on her story and hinted on a white/black livery for today.

Not hinting anything. She just underlines the "blank canvas" marketing slang that Red Bull put out. Like a "fresh start". Not in litteral sense that it will be a white livery.

Same here. I'd be extremely surprised if anything is revealed at all. My guess is last years car with a new livery. Bigger Honda logos and that's it..

Sure, but it would still be a bit awkward to have a launch car with Honda logo’s at what is allegedly supposed to be a Red Bull-Ford party. But let’s see, we’re only a couple of hours away.

Well, it lost out big time in Brazil and still had some pounds to shed. The second RB didn't finish 2nd and had its own troubles, so room for improvement. You can't rely on Max to win out, especially with a Mercedes coming back and perhaps Ferrari making less strategic errors.

Not as awkward as unveiling a car that will only be on the grid in 3 years time

I expect it to be a Red Bull 'party' to start with (unveiling this years livery) and then moving on to the future announcing Ford.

Brazil was probably due to lack of setup time like in Austria. Was still 2nd fastest though in those races. 2 “bad races” out off 22 isn’t bad

I don’t think RB or Max care the second RB didn’t finish 2nd😂

Why do people think Ford won't enter until 2026 if it is, as expected, simply a badging job for them?

Unless the contract has been bought out. Remember that contracts don’t always mean much in F1 and why would Honda want to keep helping knowing that they are going with a different OEM in a few years

For the life of me I cant see Honda ever want to be bought out when they are on top of the world with a team that has their engine in use for the forseeable future. But then, its Honda. So youll never know.

It's Honda's engine till 26. They supply, build and maintain them, not Red Bull. Don't think they would like Ford to put their badge on it.

Only then it's a Red Bull Powertrains developed engine.

It's official: Ford will return to #F1 as an engine supplier from 2026. Here's the full story:

https://twitter.com/...498107799433216

https://www.motorspo...-2026/10427636/

Domenicali said: "The news today that Ford is coming to Formula 1 from 2026 is great for the sport and we are excited to see them join the incredible automotive partners already in Formula 1.

"Ford is a global brand with an incredible heritage in racing and the automotive world and they see the huge value that our platform provides with over half a billion fans around the world.

"Our commitment to be Net Zero Carbon by 2030 and to introduce sustainable fuels in the F1 cars from 2026 is also an important reason for their decision to enter F1.

"We believe that our sport provides the opportunity and reach unlike any other and we cannot wait for the Ford logo to be racing round F1's iconic circuits from 2026."

FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem reckoned that Ford's decision vindicated F1's change of engine rules for 2026.

"There are few manufacturers who have such a celebrated motorsport history as Ford, so to see them coming back to the FIA Formula 1 World Championship is excellent news," he said.

"It further underlines the success of the 2026 Power Unit Regulations that have at their heart a commitment to both sustainability and spectacle, and of course having more interest from the United States is important for the continued growth of the world's top motorsport category. "

Now official: Ford is returning to F1 in 2026. Ford cites the new power unit regulations and the growth in America as key aspects to the return.
It will be supplying PU technology to a partner that you all know but will only officially announce it in the next hour #F1
