Thanks @jwill189 !
Here's the video I referred to before, highlighting some big changes compared to last year. The Aston livery looks the same as before, but the car is very different. This is Dan Fallows's first car at Aston, and it shows.

Last year, the AM was better on the long runs than it was in qualifying. Fernando has always had mega race pace so I'm hoping we get to see him thrive on Sundays.

Can't believe I'm rooting for the guy for more than 20 years now....I was just a little boy back then.....sometimes it feels like I'm getting less emotional when it comes to F1 and then the new cars get announced, Alonso is somehow still there and I'm once again excited like the young idiot I was 20 years ago, sitting 1m in front of the tv, on the floor at 4am....

It has the appearance of an aggressive design. Im not a fan of the team but it would be cool to see them make a step.

Like Austin, I was wondering why we kept posting under the team thread.
Which is exactly the reason why I never understood a seperate team and technical thread in the first place. Just one happy thread per team to suit it all.

INSANE sidepods on this car, and I hope the rumours of strong numbers in the wind tunnel are real.

Horner mentioned in an interview also about the numbers, honestly this car from looks, agressiveness and design matureness looks very intriguing, i have a feeling theyll make a big jump this year, also with all the people/knowhow brought onboard, they did exactly how i hoped my team mclaren would go about business

I doubt they will make a jump, maybe fight with Alpine and McLaren but thats it. Car looks nothing new, just typical "throw more of cool stuff"

i mean pass alpine and mcl and depending on car qualities upset for pos 5+6 on some tracks, they got a lot of knowledge from other teams flowing into this and fallows makes a very good impression, and i like their very pracmatig approach better then my own team of living in a bubble thinking they have all the knowledge they need, its just the tools missing...
But offcourse they wont jump the big three

It's looking good and sounding positive, so here are some reasons to have grounded expectations.
- Aggressive aero is not as good as practical aero and no one knows if this approach is practical yet. Fallows or no fallows.
- Numbers in simulations are not always related to dynamic and varied track conditions, time and time again we have seen that
- New packaging cause a lot of issues and with the sidepods water slides (That's what we are calling them?) being directed towards the gearbox, they would have had to push some limits to make sure it work
- Alonso has no luck! Mercedes apparently had PU issues on their shakedown run....
- Front tyres are new. The team must hope they can understand them and that the car setup window is large and not skewed to any limited extreme because of them
- The team could have some disruption when moving and getting everything running in the new building. At least Big Stroll does seems to have an attitude of "whatever it takes" to push through such issues
- Development needs to be very strong and consistent
At least if they avoid all that or any other unforeseen disaster, then it means the team and management is healthy. (No fingers crossed emoji??)

We're going to see if Fallows will live up to the hype in a few weeks. McLaren should have had him years ago but didn't fight it when they got Prodromou.

Exciting times ahead for Aston Martin, maybe Alonso has finally made the correct choice for a team that can push forward and offer him a platform better than his previous stints with Alpine and McLaren in recent years.

I really like that We'll see if it's any good, but 10/10 for trying something different and being imaginative.

The PU advantage should help them claw back some of the deficit to Alpine, and in Alonso they've got a great driver.
Let's hope that the additional Wind Tunnel and CDF allowance let's them develop well throughout the year.

With McLaren already managing expectations, AM need to be the quickest of the midfield team.

From the technical videos I've watched, the biggest questions with this car is the new front wing and its aggressive outwash. If the turbulent can be directed as far out from the front tyres as possible, and the rest of the wing can direct the air through the channels as intended, the rest of the aero updates should work well.
I still have no expectations for this car, but I am excited that the team is taking a chance with its new aero philosophy.

Has anyone seen what they referred to a few weeks ago as "innovative" and "clever" solutions that may get banned? They commented they were worth some little gains but not must haves. so if they get banned not a big deal ( according to them)

I'm sure the rest of teams and FIA eagerly await their update!

They never mention them maybe getting banned. Simply that they found a few small loopholes they exploited. And unless they are stupid, they kept the FIA in the loop about their intentions, instead of wasting money on something they then might never be allowed to race with

We're going to see if Fallows will live up to the hype in a few weeks. McLaren should have had him years ago but didn't fight it when they got Prodromou.
An aero engineer (not in F1) on F1 Technical mentioned that his senior worked at RB during the Vettel years and told him that if anyone ever got a chance to learn from Dan Fallows, they should take it.

Some pretty interesting tunnels on some of these cars (up high on the engine cover, running from the halo to the exhaust) ...
I guess that is the ‘shelf’ and there underneath is the Coanda 2023.
Merc shelf has two channels and it us very long. Ominously Alpine’s shelf is quite long, but has no channels. I think that the channels sort the down wash towards the rear wing, accelerate the foot towards the lower side of the rear wing, there by larger rear wing down forth.

That's encouraging. I've just put my wildly optimistic bet on for the year....Alonso to win the WDC at 201.0

? the PU advantage? There is no PU advantage over Alpine anymore according to the most serious sources and datas.
The advantage is reliability.

I have just gone for the race win in Bahrain at 150/1 hoping for some unreliability in the other cars to help.
