Allan E.Brown, author of "America's Speedways Past & Present", and the National Speed Sport Directory, has sadly passed away - https://t.co/dTReBm8BFR. Anyone who has done any research into US racing will know how valuable his work was, and America's Speedways Past & Present was one I was honoured to have been able to contribute to for the second edition. One favoured memory is mailing Allan with an update for an earlier usage of a track in Iowa, to get a very rapid reply saying funny you should mention that, with a picture of the same track, as he was there. His passing has been sadly overlooked, and I only knew of it because I saw someone else mention on another board that they couldn't attend the funeral.

Sad news; his work obviously was quite a labor of love. RIP.

Reinhard, sadly overlooked in terms of discussion or salutes on message boards/forums, yes. Particularly when one considers the amount and level of Allan's work.
But, then again, it's unsurprising in a way too. This forum skews heavily British and European, so American oval racing is overlooked (if not held in outright contempt) and TrackForum generally doesn't like "media folk" and some hold them in outright contempt.
