I saw a Mclaren Senna parked on the street in Montréal with little Pfaff stickers this past June during the GP weekend, presumably it was sold by Pfaff from their dealership. Will miss the Porsche but excited for the increases variety.

Not having LMP3 to clog up the grid in the main series is also something to celebrate.  4 classes with no filler will be helpful.  Not running the full series at some important traditional dates on the other hand, is a pretty bad step.

The model scale market is in the gutter as well. It doesn't look like you can get a 1:18 or a 1:24 963 anywhere until mid 2024.

Have WTR ever done anything to make themselves unlikeable? Certainly not on the level of the big villains at MSR, I'd think. Excited to see Jenson in a car capable of winning!

This in a roundabout way confirms Button's full season with Jota in the WEC. 

 

After all, if he was doing a full IMSA season, he wouldn't be competing as a 4th driver for the Rolex 24 with WTR who already announced their full season drivers.

Blomqvist will be driving the Cadillac at Daytona iirc but yes it's a very small club.

Someone can check me on this but I think this makes Button/Blomqvist the only folks to have sampled more than one LMDh car. Ryan Briscoe raced both the Glickenhaus and the Vanwall in WEC this past season.

Unclear where she's going to be, but rumoured F1 Academy. Potential for some FIA WEC LMGT3, but I'd be surprised if somebody broke up Gatting/Frey/Bovy as a trio.

What a shame… she’s talented but I’m not sure she’s F1 material. Hopefully her career doesn’t go the way of de Silvestro’s.

Still funny to me that Riley, an LMP2 chassis constructor themselves, are racing an ORECA. At least a Ligier has been unretired this year so we will have a tiny bit of variety in the class!

Something that just occurred to me reading this article-

Bill Auberlen does not have a drive confirmed for the full IMSA season now that Turner have scaled back to a single GTD entry. The article strangely makes no mention of that, and maybe he'll continue racing in Pilot Challenge for them, but it's still a shame for IMSA's career wins leader to not be in the premier series next year. He was a sort of tangible connection to that very first ALMS season when he was a BMW works driver in the LMR.

I think if Bill isn't driving next year, its his choice. He would be an incredible asset for any GT team, and I wonder if the rating system downrated him and no longer considers him to be a Platinum/Pro driver.

If he was downrated all the more reason to have him on your team.

In other news, the Lambo has been testing at Daytona to help set BoP in IMSA for when it does debut at Sebring. Looks lovely, anyone know what sort of lap times they’re at?

That’s encouraging! That’s 1 second off last year’s pole but with no real testing and setup work that’s really really impressive for a brand new car and driver.

The model scale market is in the gutter as well. It doesn't look like you can get a 1:18 or a 1:24 963 anywhere until mid 2024.


The 1:18 scale Penske Porsche 963 (dealer edition) should be out early next year. The 1:43 has just been released. I wouldn't say the scale model market is in the gutter: there are more models being made than ever before, which leads to more waiting.
