Well with the 2023 Formula One season firmly in the books, it never takes us long to look ahead and start wondering about what the future holds. So without further ado, I present to you the 2025 F1 Silly Season Trophy... and this one could be better than ever.

First and foremost, we have the presence of Andretti to consider. Yes, the American outfit is targeting a slot on the grid in a little over 12 months time, and while they have faced much resistance from the grid's current incumbents, they may well make it. On top of predicting who may pilot their inaugural F1 contender, there are numerous top line drivers out of contract for 2025, so there are numerous unknowns.

Will Fernando Alonso's legendary F1 career continue?

Will Leclerc lose faith with Ferrari?

Will Lawrence lose faith in his son?

Who will take a gamble on the Sauber/Audi seats?

So with that in mind, do you think you have what it takes to predict the 2025 Formula One grid? Give it your best shot below.

Previous winners:
2003: Brian O Flaherty
2004: Flying Panda
2005: lukywill, Viceroy, Makarias
2017: ANF
2018: Marklar
2019: TurnOffTheLights
2020: rodlamas
2021: M2000-5

Participation:
To participate, post a reply in this topic with the drivers you think will be on the grid in the first Formula One Grand Prix of 2025. Be sure to follow the rules and please make sure there is no confusion as to which driver you mean.

Rules and point scoring:
The game will continue with the same scoring system as last year: unpopular picks are rewarded more if they turn out to be true. Early indications are that this is a good method for breaking ties.
2 drivers per team. In case more drivers are provided, player only scores points for the first two listed.
1 team per driver. In case a driver is placed into multiple teams, player only scores points for the first one mentioned.
5 points for correctly guessing driver/team. You can earn up to 2 bonus points for each successful pick depending on how many people guessed that particular driver/team combination. This is calculated as 2*(1–(a/b)), where a is the amount of guesses with that driver/team combination among other participants and b is the amount of your opponents (i.e. total guesses minus one).
2 points for correctly guessing driver (wrong team). You can earn up to 1 bonus point for each successful pick depending on how many people guessed that driver would participate. This is calculated as 1–(a/b), where a is the amount of guesses with that driver/team combination among other participants and b is the amount of your opponents (i.e. total guesses minus one).
On top of the regular bonus points, you get double points if the driver you guessed was mentioned by nobody else.
0 points if driver doesn't compete. An exception is if the driver was supposed to participate but did not due to a temporary injury or temporary ban (e.g. in 2017 you would get 5 points for guessing either Ericsson, Giovinazzi or Wehrlein in the Sauber and 2 points for guessing them in any other team, but no points for guessing van der Garde in any team in 2015).
If you list less than 13 teams and there are less than 13 teams on the grid in 2025, you score points for the teams you left out (5 points per team).
You can list an unknown driver (no given name) in a team. You will then score 5 points if a driver that was not mentioned by any other entry drives in the team you put him/her in. You will score no points if an unknown driver drives in a different team.
In the event of a tie, the player putting the most drivers in the correct teams is given preference. If there is still a tie, the player who submitted his guess first is given preference (in case a post is edited, I will look at the time it was last edited, not the original submission time).

Deadline: December 7 - 12:00PM GMT

Andretti are clear on putting Herta in one of their cars if in any way possible, somewhat of a longshot considering him not having a Superlicense and by looks is not interested go get one the easy way. I have to get Dohan in somewhere, so there he is.

That would pee Palou off in no uncertain manner.

To be honest, I was in between Hulk and Ocon for the Sauber/Audi seat. Also, Zhou in Haas is a long shot.

Being a Magnussen fan I am pleasantly surprised that so many of you think he will still be a F1 driver in 2025, considering that I as the fan do not think so. I am actually still not 100% that he will be in 2024.

Personally, I just can't see Haas changing their lineup completely. Think he may get saved a bit with Hulkenberg jumping ship to the fledgling Audi project.

His season were poor enough regardless of being in a poor car to not have too strong an argument for keeping him there even in 2024, I do not expect him to still be there in 2025.

I agree completely. Just think Gunther and co. will be a bit wary of having an all new line-up after the Mick-Mazepin year.

I do think if Hulk doesn't return to Hinwil, Kmag will be off with Bearman dropped in his place.

True but Aston Martin seems interested to want to extend him another year. What surprised me more is that no one so far believes that Stroll won't be around anymore, sure Stroll ended the season well in the final 3 races buy he was having a horrible season before that.
Personally I think there is a realistic chance Stroll will end up in WEC with the Valkyrie hypercar by 2025.

It looks like Hülkenberg could be lured away to Sauber, Williams, Aston Martin or even Red Bull (I actually think he might end up at Red Bull; he's got the perfect profile for that seat). That might save Magnussen's seat, maybe because Perez could be on the market, maybe Ricciardo or one of the Alpine drivers: all possible targets for Haas who I think will run Oliver Bearman in one of their cars.

If Andretti enters (they should, in theory they can perfectly enter without taking a share of the tv / prize money btw) then I can see an experienced driver like Magnussen  high on Andretti's list. With possible an Alpine Jr. (Doohan, Martins) in the other seat.

You are still on the Hulkenberg to Red Bull, they will not hire him. Audi/Sauber seems a much more possible destination, as I said much as I am a Magnussen fan he need to show something in 2024 in order for him to be extended, and even if showing something it could become a question, too many up and coming drivers knocking on the F1 doors.

Man, this is really difficult. I honestly think plenty of drivers are on their last seasons with their current teams in 2024 but who goes where in 2025 is something I have 0 clue about. :rotfl:

Changing mine, with Tsunoda at Red Bull, which I have a hard time understanding, only other driver I really would see there would actually be Perez, which may still be the likeliest.

Red Bull Verstappen & Tsunoda
Ferrari Leclerc & Sainz
McLaren Norris & Piastri
Mercedes Hamilton & Russel
Aston Martin Alonso & Stroll
Alpine Ocon & Gasly
The Team currently known as Alpha Tauri Lawson & Ricciardo
Williams Albon & Vesti
Sauber Hulkenberg & Purchaire
Haas Bearman & Magnussen

None of us expected Hamilton switching to Ferrari.

H0R and me were the only ones expecting Lewis not to continue at Mercedes with Lando Norris and Alex Albon named as possible substitutes respectively.

Four people expected Sainz to move elsewhere: to Red Bull (mentioned 2 times), Alpine or Aston Martin.

We don't even have the 2024 results, yet (and I'm pretty sure I won that one :p ).
