The following is a link to my pics from this year's event, which took place a few weeks ago. Please note that I only covered four of the categories competing this year.

The yellow Mildren F5000 is noted as Ex Kevin Bartlett. I doubt if he ever drove it much, possibly only once r twice.

A highlight for me was seeing the Wright family’s two Mallalas out on track, as a result of the “Big” Mallala’s restoration having been completed! The pair of them together in the paddock was a joy to behold!

Why are most of the touring car photos labelled "Nissan 23 R3"?

Terry,

It is "HISAN23-R3"

In other words - HI-storic SAN-down 20-23 - R-ace 3

HI SAN 23-R 3

Unless I am very much mistaken (to quote Murray Walker)

You are right that he didn't drive it much...

But he did start in the Hordern Trophy race and then go on to do a whole Tasman Cup series in it.

From memory, the only other driver to compete in it in period was Erol Richardson and I don't think he would have eclipsed Kevin's mileage in the car.

Not this time. I was active for around 2 hours only at this event.

HISAN23, not Nissan 23. HISAN is 'Historic Sandown'. The R3 part of the filename identifies the camera I was using for the specific pic. I have used this filenaming format since day dot - it allows me to locate the original image years later in no time.

Thanks Steve - I answered the posts above in the order received, so only saw yours last. Much appreciated. Take care.

Elmo popped into the paddock on Sunday to get acquainted with both Mallalas!

The 'big' Mallala would presumably be the Bryan Thomson car?

Is it still powered by a supercharged 2+litre FPF?

Can confirm it’s the Thomson car, but with locomotion courtesy of a Ford Lotus Twin Cam unit these days.

That's certainly gone downhill, then...

Thommo won a race at Warwick Farm with that power unit. But in a Cooper.
