Anyone know what time the FIA will be publishing the new 2024 F1 Entry List today, along with the new official team names for Sauber and Alpha Tauri?

In terms of the universe of game streaming Kick is a drop in the bucket. My over/under until they pull the plug is 14 months.

But check out the "name of the chassis" on the latter entry list...
There used to be a rule about not allowing a sponsor name to be part of the chassis name. It’s why various Lotus couldn’t be known as John Player Specials in F1, but had to retain their type number (76 77, 78, and 79 were those affected)

I'm mildly into gaming and haven't heard of them even once outside of the F1 context. Granted, I don't really watch streaming but I hear about Twitch all the time and literally never about Kick.

Yeah, I've not heard from them outside of Sauber,
I dislike the formating of the name so much, but they'll be Sauber to me,
In fact they've never stopped being Sauber, despite the 'branding' of Alfa, they were more Sauber than when they ran as BMW Sauber to be honest.

@andrewbensonf1
Just spent 10 mins discussing with the office what we will call Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber in 2024 in the context of BBC restrictions on sponsorship and advertising, and in interests of general straightforwardness & lack of confusion. For elegance & simplicity, it will be Sauber
Basically like everyone else, then. I'm not calling them that bulldust name. It's Sauber until Audi arrive.

It’s owned personally by the Kick co-founders. Legally Stake doesn’t own it.

I vaguely remember that, too. But nowadays, all ‘constructors’ are professional racing entities that just go by the name of a major backer. That includes Mercedes, which is only part-owned by its name-giver. This way, the teams are more and more like cycling teams have been for ages: professional entities that adopt the moniker of their sponsor, be it Banesto, US Postal, or Jumbo-Visma.

I much prefer FIA strictly acts to disallow sales of naming rights on the chassis, hell, the team can be renamed, but for what reason the chassis? Have anyone even read it? Team name yes.
Never the less, if there is the way to survive, then why not. but like person's name, not all name would be allowed, especially when it hits the article 151c...

But there’s the difference between the name of the entrant and that of the chassis. The idea is supposed to be that the chassis name is that who has the IP rights to the technology within. Right from 1968, F1 team names have adopted their sponsor name.

True. I remember that, at least in the 1990s, the entrant name had to include the name of the chassis, or the constructor name. Hence the format of [sponsor] [chassis] [engine], e.g. “Rothmans Williams Renault”, “Mild Seven Benetton Playlife” and “Vodafone McLaren Mercedes”, right?

I doubt even Alfa Romeo had the IP rights of the Sauber-build Alfas.

Well, at least “Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber” is getting all the abuse it deserves in internet meme land.
Which means their achieving the goal of making their names known throughout the world.

I’m not sure I necessarily subscribe to the “no such thing as bad publicity” meme.

Gerald Ratner would probably agree with you. But in a lot of circumstances it is not the case. If nobody knows your name, then bad publicity certainly is very good at changing that. Afterwards, you can take measures to address and mitigate the effects of the bad publicity and, if successful, you will end up with a name that a lot more people know.

So there's now no longer the need for the chassis name ("Kick Sauber") to be part of the entrant name ("Stake F1 Team")? Or should we expect an official chassis name change, still?
