It is a sad day, first we hear about the death of cancer of 19 year old former British F4 driver and Leeds resident Joel Pearson.

Now it transpires that Wilson Fittipaldi Junior, brother of Emerson and former Brabham F1 driver, also died.

Wilson was the team owner and team creator of the Fittipaldi (Copersucar sponsored) team. His brother also drove for that team off course. Wilson Fittipaldi, like his brother, is also a legend in Brazil. Their father (also named Wilson, hence why his son is often called Wilson Jr.) was a famous sports journalist who also started racing and both his sons became F1 drivers.

Wilson Jr. is the father of former F1 (Minardi & Arrows Footwork) & IndyCar driver Christian Fittipaldi.

2 sad deaths at the opposite end of the age spectrum, Joel Pearson suffered for a few years trying different cancer treatments in different countries but sadly to no avail. RIP to both.

I just saw that video (previous post) where they were doing a tribute lap on Interlagos, with one of Wilson's F1 Fittipaldi cars on a truck.

Now, if you go towards the end of the video you can see the vehicles exiting the track, top down view, and to my surprise the original track is still there! It's also remarkable how close the Interlagos circuit is to residential houses.
