Objectively race was like a 5/10, a bit of wheel to wheel action I guess.

For what it represents and what it suggests about the rest of the season it was about -3.

I turned off the season opener at around lap 40 and started ironing some shirts instead. I expect to be impeccably dressed this year.

Normally Bahrain delivers good races with lots of overtakes. With the cars so evenly matched this year and almost everybody on the same tactic this race today was to be expected.

Another 91 or so minutes of my life that thanks to F1 I will have wasted... I watched out of curiosity simply to see if perhaps the might be a Disturbance in the Force, but...

Interesting, but for well over a decade or two or three or four now at least, the knuckleheads running F1 have managed to screw it up and continue to screw it up with little clue how to unscrew it...

Paint drying, a few dices but ultimately boreathon – going to be a long season for all bar Max fans.

It was extremely boring. Turned off after second pitstops were done.

They won't. It's the Jack Welsh conundrum: They've managed to make it more profitable for themselves this way. Shareholder Value over Everything Else.

Fell asleep at lap 35, regaining consciousness halfway around the final lap. No desire to rewind it.

some of the inter-Ferrari scrap was good, I guess? That’s clutching at straws though, and nothing like the 2022 Verstappen LeClerc battle, which was completely engaging.

With the exception of Monaco 2022 (long story!) I haven’t missed a race live, or ‘as live’ with no knowledge of results, since the start of the 1997 season. I doubt this record will continue to the end of 2024 on todays evidence.

FOM are making an absolute shedload.

They genuinely won’t care.

Mildly interesting... but that was mostly looking at the timing screen.  I didn't fear I'd miss anything abandoning the TV footage.

Managed to have a nice nap during it.

Dreadful race, are we in for an even worse season?

I went out after the second pit stops, the wonderful Northdown Brewery was opening a new tap room and I had a great time! Who won? ;)

I spent the morning painting my living room, so prior to the race I was literally watching paint drying. That was more exciting than anything that happened after lap 10.

But of course I'm already counting down the hours to Jeddah. Like the mug I am.

I don't know, I can't see how even the most ardent fans of a driver are excited by their favorite cruising to 20+ second victories literally every time they get in the car. I came into F1 fandom as a big Schumacher fan and I was bored to tears during bits of 2002/2004, I enjoyed 2000/2003/2006 far more.

Basically, I don't know how anyone other than Max and Adrian can enjoy this.

Gap race p1 p3 last year: 33s This year: 22s

Gap p1 p10 quali 2023 1.2s

Gap p1 p10 quali 2024 0.9s

So not much better, but slightly

Just remember kids.

The reason why F1 is **** is not because the FIA has rigged things for its blue-eyed boy, but because Michael Andretti might take some money away from Kicking Vapes.

This boring a race after the winter break is killer... this is the most I will be excited about the season, and all I get in return is Perez comfortably second in another rocketship of a car.

I am starting to truly wonder if I should do something more worthwhile with my time. I want to see my team improve, but (modern) Formula One as a concept is simply not working. I cannot think of a more boring motorsport event.

Today was a day of zero competition for me. Tadej made a solo breakaway at 81km. Strade ruined. Then the F1 happened.

Sometimes I wonder why I waste time watching sports

Boring, depressing and honestly felt pointless. The sport has lost the small amount of competiviness it had in the start of turbo era. This does not feel like the same sport I grew up and fell in love with.

Lets see if Verstappen and Red Bull will win every race this year. It would be horrible, but honestly hilarious.

In many ways it felt like Round 19 of the season, where you have a soulless desert environment where everyone with their well proven cars have bulletproof reliability (not counting lifting and coasting and whatever little issues they always have) and nothing in the championship seemed to be particularly at stake

If back in the 90’s id tuned into this as a season opener, I don’t think I’d have ever fallen for F1 like I did.

Rules for 2024. my kids wake me up if there is a safety car incident or the last 5 laps of the race

Same rules during Hamilton's 5th year at Mercedes

Same rules during Vettel's 4th year at Redbull

Same rules during Schumacher 2004-2005 seasons (my kids were to small, so my wife would wake me up)

>Seeing I can no longer afford to visit a race

He does it every single race anyway

I was watching a race from 2000 I think and there was a car broken down on circuit, with marshals on track recovering it under double yellows. Brundle was seething at the possible idea of a safety car when Murray suggested it.

How’s things change.

We had a Brundle anecdote from 1985 this time. (Was he doing sports cars in 88?)

I liked it though, it reminded me that he'd raced with Niki Lauda.
