Time to wipe the slate clean right - the proper start to the season. Forget the tripe we’ve had so far, Albert Park is where it’s at. Time for environmentally conscious F1 to ship everything and everyone halfway round the globe and then red flag or cancel the race at any given opportunity! We’re off to gravity defying upside down land!

It’s been a long winter, I’m excited to see how close this season is going to be. Almost certain from testing that Mercedes and Alpine are sandbagging.

Redbull seems a harmonious slick operation with the entire team happy and locked-in long term. Will be difficult to unsettle them.

4am race too… amazing! Crumpets, tea, Twiglets & blissful peace and quiet while I watch and possibly fall in and out of consciousness before watching it all again at 9am once I’ve woken properly.

F1 2024 is GO GO GO!

Circuit Build (much more exciting than any other race….. because this is the first race of the season, right? ) https://www.grandpri...-the-grand-prix

Midnight start on the east coast of the States, Saturday night. I'll be watching while enjoying libations, good food, and laying in bed with my girlfriend. Only thing that could make it better is a great race.

It's easily my favorite GP of the year every year, atmosphere is bar none. Even if I have to watch everything delayed as I'm working over the weekend again, it doesn't matter

It's also the first non-night race since Interlagos

Not really any point in embedding an official F1 video. They won't play when they're embedded.

Ahh. Bastards.

Still - really decent output from them. Basically an hour of highlights from Albert Park.

Lol, took a while until I realized the forum isn't hacked by foreign spambot.

It's Aussie time, baby! For me, this is where the season officially starts. Those two night races were just remnants from 2023. They can be forgotten.

But yeah, no longer artificial light but real sunshine! The atmosphere at Albert Park is always unique I'd say even better than Monza today. Even Verstappen's domination can't ruin the atmosphere, it's that great.

Albert Park as a track is also quite unique: it's a street circuit, but then it has gravel traps as well. So, anticipating plenty of red flags, particularly during F3 and F2 sessions. Hopefully F1 will be free of stoppages. Last year was a total fiasco and bundled with the track invasion, I bet no one wants to see a repeat of it.

Watching all sessions is going to be tough for us Europeans due to time difference. But I think it's worth it. It would be a disgrace if in the future they turn it into a night race to make it more accessible for European audience. Again, the experience of watching open wheel cars in the middle of the night emphasizes the uniqueness of Australian GP. This unique experience shall remain.

Well, out of all the circuits on the calendar, it's the one with biggest chance of getting stuck on gravel trap, because that's what they've thankfully managed to retain while other circuits (even Montreal) haven't, so F2 and F3 rookies have to learn the hard way

And race start / restart incident chances in the first corner sequence always feel higher here also, there's often clashes in Supercars and Porsches and whatnot too

Ha! You northern mob can suck it. We get two races (three with Vegas) out of the whole season that are at a decent time. Even the European races that used to start at 2200 here have now been pushed back an hour. Combine that with cycling, and FIS, and it adds up to a lot of sleepless nights. 😴🤣
Looking forward to the weekend. 😊

The full race list is incredible for Melbourne. Super mix of car types and events. It must be such a fun weekend in person, to experience it

What has made it so early in UK times, out of interest? I don’t remember ever being up at 4am for it.  :drunk:

Driver complaints about low sun? US TV? Daylight savings?

(If 4am is your standard Europe GP tv time it’s fair to call us weak!!  )

I've been weighing this one up, and I've decided to go out and enjoy a DJ set by Dixon instead on the assumption I'll not miss much. I'll watch the race sometime on Sunday afternoon.
Although for some reason, some of the most dramatic races happen to be when I decide to watch on delay...

Yeah even here in the Americas most of us get one of the few decent start times of the season this weekend (2300 in my case). The others can take one for the team this weekend!

I believe the bold portions were the biggest factors. TV times in the Americas are not much of a priority for FOM, it seems, given the Vegas start time.
