Heikki Kovalainen has told followers on X that he has had open heart surgery after a serious problem was found.

'Little update regarding the last few months - I was diagnosed with ascending aortic aneurysm which required open heart surgery, and was operated on last week. Now recovery continues at home 👊🏻'

Gosh, I’d noticed his health issues in the last months so I was nervous seeing this thread topic. Thanks for the update, glad it sounds like his op went well.

Last time I read about it, he was considering doing the surgery or not. Not doing it, would end his rally/racing stuff. But doing it also has risks.

I was worried seeing this as I’d seen the news about him having the surgery on Autosport a few weeks ago.

Glad it seems to have gone well.
