QUANDO: This weekend, Double Header! Races on Saturday & Sunday afternoon!
DOVE: Misano World Circuit, Marco Simoncelli
PERCHE?: FE + Misano + Piadina = Fun!
Benvenuti a Misano!
This ain't a promotional post, but heck, you can find almost everything in Misano!
Here you can find the sea, the good food, the night-life and, above all, the Motorsport!
The passion for racing there is palpable, you can feel it just by walking around the city.
This is a land of drivers and riders: here, Valentino Rossi and all the italian MotoGP riders consumed the tarmac of the circuit in their training sessions.
But, most of all, this is a land that lives with the memory of Marco Simoncelli: in fact, the great SIC was born in Coriano, just a few kilometers from Misano.
His memory is still vivid and close to the heart of everyone in the city, and the Autodromo was named after him.
Another MotoGP Legend is tied eternal with this city: the Kentucky Kid, Nicky Hayden, the last american MotoGP Champion, lost his life here in a bike incident, while riding towards the Autodromo.

If you're looking for a beer in the Misano nights, look no further. La Birra di Paolino is waiting for you.
An historical place in Misano's seaside, a place hosted by Paolo Torsani, a motor-head, who was a very close friend of Marco Simoncelli.
Paolo Torsani of "La Birra di Paolino"
In the Summer Nights, every night at 22.30, he ignites Marco Simoncelli's bike's engine and let it sings for a few seconds.
A magical moment, where everybody at the tables turns silent, watching this incredible ritual.
His personal way of letting know his lost friend, that everyone in Misano still loves him.
The World Circuit Marco Simoncelli is in the city, by the sea: literally a few hundreds meters of walking and you'll find yourself from the grandstands to the beach.
Can it get better?
YES!
Formula E is now racing there, so that makes it a 10/10!
Misano is ready to be electrified by the electric circus: this weekend.
The first round of the season on a proper, permanent circuit, albeit with some tweaks to make it a little bit more FE-y!
This is going to be an eventful weekend with the Young Drivers Free Practice Session as well, and there are some rumors about the Gen 3 EVO car being tested there before the FE's first free practice.
LENGHT: 3.382 km
TURNS: 14
DIRECTION: Clockwise Energy allocated: 38,5 KWh
Race 1 Lenght: 28 laps
Race 2 Lenght: 26 laps
Misano is big, wide, fast, flowing.
Quite the opposite of the traditonal Formula E track isn't it?
Main difference are: Sector 1 is cut short compared to the GP layout, as the track rejoins in the straight towards the Quercia corner.
From there to Turn 8, the circuit is exactly the same as normal, before a very FE-esque chicane thrown in the middle of the Gran Curvone: after that, the track resumes to normal with the iconic "Carro" and "Misano" sections, before reaching the finishing line.
This track should highlight Gen 3 outright speed in qualifying, while the race should be a crazy, tight, dramatic Peleton affair, similar to Portland last season or Sao Paulo this year!

The Rookies will turn Misano on fire on Friday!
Before the official FP1 session, there will be another session, called Free Practice 0, where young drivers will get to push the Formula E cars in Misano!
The line-up is quite stellar, with drivers like WEC star Robert Shwartzman, F2 rising talent Zane Maloney, WTCR's champ Azcona and many others!
Championship Standings
Between a session and another, in Misano it's tradition to eat a Piadina Romagnola.
A simple yet delicious snack, with Squaquerone cheese, Rucola, and Prosciutto Crudo: this simple combination of three ingredients is the Romagna's trademark flavour.

All set for an incredible Double Header in Misano.
High temperatures expected (25-28 °c), big crowd, lots of action expected.
Everything's set.
Who will dominate the Marco Simoncelli's Circuit and enter FE history?
Are FE ever going to run a permanent track without adding their own silly chicanes and reroutes?
cough*Monaco*cough
Although it has taken them a long time to use the full circuit. And the first time they did use the full track they changed the chicane to the New Nouvelle chicane.

Anyway it seems they used Portland without modifications.

When they head to Shanghai in May, official track layouts show that they’ll be using the pre-existing ‘West Long’ variant of the Shanghai International Circuit.
Name one other series that doesn’t just use one of the permanent layouts at the circuits they visit.
Interestingly, Misano seems to have carried out works to create a full-on new permanent layout option(s) at the track. This being materially different to what we saw in, say, Valencia since these new options could be used by any other series in future. My guess is that Misano want to either keep FE coming back for more, or to at least get some layout option improvements out of a one-off visit.
I think that series (at least the US version) is slowly drifting towards its doom, they only had two events last year and this season the only scheduled event is Long Beach so far
All going well I should catch both races this weekend. Likely to miss Saturday’s qualifying however. Such is life.
Formula E have an incredible knack of scheduling their sessions so i can rarely watch live, no matter which time zone or race day. Granted i do keep an unusual schedule, but i do wonder why everything is running so early today.. Practice at 6am, qualy at 8:30? Not great for people watching on tv or live at the circuit!
Just watched qualy and enjoyed the drifting from Rowland & Ticktum!
