That's a terrible shame. I never met him in person but he seemed like a nice guy.

Personally I never heard a bad word about Wally (surnames were superfluous - everyone knew who you meant when you referred to “Wally”). Well respected and fair - everything you wanted in a chief steward. A good run, thanks Wally.

Peppy was always there to get us registered and welcome us for the weekend. My colleagues and I were so lucky to be a part of that great time in IndyCar.

R.I.P. Wally - as stated, a driver who was denied a deserved win at Indy, though his years of service after his driving career were a perfect illustration of the right man for the job at the right time.
