My first post (other than my intro).

I'm fascinated by IndyCar chassis histories. Especially the cars of the 1970s. During the pandemic, I did some basic digging into the history of the McLaren M24, and I enjoyed that experience.

I've long been a fan of the Roman Slobodinsky designed Eagle of 1972. It's a great looking car, low, wide and fast. Allen Brown and his team have done a fantastic job piecing together the histories of the 1972 and 73 Eagles. There appears to be less known about the 1974 Eagle, however.

According to AAR, they built 15 1974 Eagle chassis.

In my very cursory initial look, here is what I've dug up regarding where they started out:

7401 - Unknown

7402 - Unknown

7403 - Patrick Racing (Gordon Johncock)

7404 - AAR

7405 - AAR

7406 - Vel's Parnelli Jones (Mario Andretti)

7407 - Jerry O'Connell (Billy Vukovich)

7408

7409 - Patrick Racing (Wally Dallenbach)

7410

7411 - Unlimited Racing (Lloyd Ruby)

7412

7414

7415

7416

7417 - Leader Cards (Mike Mosley)

Bob Fletcher had two 1974 chassis.

VPJ had at least 3. One of which was possibly written off following Joe Leonard's accident at OMS.

AAR - 2 chassis

Patrick - 2 chassis

O'Connell - 1 chassis

Fletcher - 2 chassis

Leader Cards - 1 chassis

Unlimited - 1 chassis

VPJ - 3 (or 4) chassis

I'm curious if anyone has done any digging into this chassis? I feel like a logical first step would to try and figure out where each chassis originally went. Which two did Bob Fletcher own? Where did 7414 or 7415 end up? Were they spares/back up cars?

Have you tried contacting AAR directly?

I don't know how amenable they are to requests like this, but the worst that can happen is that they'll say "no".

Great suggestion. I did reach out to them several weeks ago, but have not heard back. My assumption is that they would have records of who they sold their cars to.
