WHEN: Saturday & Sunday, double header! With races starting at 8.00 UK time!
WHERE: Shanghai International Circuit
WHY: Formula E racing on the biggest permanent track yet!?

Big Trouble in Shanghai!

Formula E is coming to town!

Well, not really in town, but rather on the big, wide, fast, Shanghai International Circuit!

After making its historic debut in Beijing, China, back in 2014, Formula E left the country after 2019 after the Sanya e-Prix, and never came back.
So far.

This year, 2024, 10 years after Beijing's historic debut, Generation 3 of Formula E is ready to comeback in China and is going to do it on a very different track compared to the Beijing's street circuit.

The Shanghai International Circuit is ready to host an exciting Double Header that could be decisive for the fate of the Season 10 of Formula E.
No clashes with other series, racing on the morning of Saturday and Sunday, you can't miss this!  :smoking:

The Shanghai International circuit is a 5.4 km long big circuit that's been introduced in F1 during the 2004 season.
Designed by Hermann Tilke, the track features long radius corners, like the famous Turn 1, fast sweepers in the middle sector and a monster long straight in the back section.

But a good thing of this facility is that it features lots of different layouts inside the main one.
In fact, Formula E is using a shortened version of the GP circuit, cutting the total lenght to 3.051 km.

First sector is identical to F1: so we're going to see the Formula E cars launching into the looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong  (ooooooooooong) Turn 1-2 "snail" corner and the next few turns are also the same.
FE cars will than launch into the Sector 2 section, wich is initially the same as F1 as well, with the long, fast sweepers, that could be the fastest corners in FE history.

Track is exactly the same as the main series layout till Turn 9, where FE will launch into a "shortcut" with a fast, bumpy left kink that could be really spectacular in qualifying mode.

Turn 10-11 is an up-hill tight chicane, that's gonna be a perfect spot for Re-Gening a bit before flying again into the main-straight.

Not sold yet?

Jump on a virtual Formula E car for a lap of the Shanghai-eprix Circuit!

WHO'S GONNA STOP CASSIDY?

This have been an hectic Season 10 of Formula E so far.

8 different winners in 10 races, fascinating battles on track and a Championship Fight that is set to go FULL DRAMA between at least 6 drivers!

Nick Cassidy is the natural favourite: the kiwi prodigy has been adapting incredibly well to the factory Jaguar team, and his consistency in results is paying off.
But it's not going to be easy for the Kiwi, as there are 3 pretty close drivers behind him, led by Porsche's Pascal Wherlein, the suprise of the season Ollie Rowland with Nissan and the reigning champ Jake Dennis of Andretti!

Nick Cassidy's experienced team-mate Mitch Evans and JEV of DS Penske are slightly more behind, but we know anything can happen in Formula E and a bad weekend for the champ leader could change everything!

Title battle heating up is my big interest. Think it’s sharpening down to Cassidy vs Wehrlein in reality.

Interesting thing there is that I think Porsche is probably a stronger car on these permanent courses, but Cassidy in the Jaguar is a master of the peloton format.

Not all that enthused about the circuit itself, but curious to see the West Long variant in action.

Seems to be battery related issue following a software update.

Specifically a software update brought by WAE to all cars. Only affected a few of the cars though - perhaps related to what kind of installation laps/test programme they were running.

Restart at 17:48 local for 25 minutes

Perhaps they can just revert to Berlin-spec software?

Ticktum seemed to suggest that it affected more cars than just those who stopped.

Was it some sort of time based rollover error in the software??

They looked good on track in their pushlaps!

The last few corners in particular are eventful, with that up-hill chicane, as the cars jump over the kerbs and get all sideways in the exit.

Should be a fun race tomorrow!

Remember it? I'm still angry about it. Prost's manoeuvre on the last lap is still one of the most boneheaded defensive moves I've ever seen.

I suppose this is the first time this has happened during FEs ten seasons but perhaps it's an argument for running shakedown at full power - not much point in a shakedown that doesn't uncover potential issues.

Yeah, I realised during the pre-race season highlights that the season since Bird won in Sao Paulo has been a blur for me. Next year can't come soon enough.
