I get that she commentates sometimes, but this does not seem relevant to F1 or racing.

Actually, it's relevant to her career IMHO, especially how it ended. She gave an interview to Kenny Wallace where she talked about her career. She comes across as somebody who thinks *everybody* was out to get her... when it's probable her own worldview had as much an influence on how things went as her gender (if not a bigger one, IMHO) and how she was perceived inside the sport.

She also tries to generalize her experience to all female drivers in motorsports, when it's just her own experience of her own career.

She had a thing with former Green Bay quarterback and POS Aaron Rodgers.

Aaron Rodgers has shared false Sandy Hook conspiracy theories in private conversation

FWIW I like Danica as a pundit on Sky. Think she generally says interesting stuff, and when it comes to the fly by interviews I think she asks good questions.

I'm not too fussed if she has some nutty other opinions, provided they're not making it on to the Sky coverage.

I mean, part of me agree. Then I read this:

And knowing that she does get publicity and her name out there, fresh in peoples mind by being on Sky F1. I am a bit unsure. It's the everlasting question of separating "art from the artist".

Had a look through episodes of her podcast and it looks like the guests started off quite mainstream with a wide variety of topics and has gradually shifted a little towards right wing propaganda and more controversial subjects - no idea whether she actually believes in this stuff herself or not. It doesn't scream "must listen", though.

I quite like her as a pundit, though. She's no Bernie Collins, but she's OK.

Has anyone actually watched her videos? I’ve not had time yet. Does she actually buy into this stuff? Is she just giving these people a platform?

Her trackside analysis doesn’t seem to be suffering, going by her recent SSF1 punditry.

What’s going on?

People believe in the concept of God and prophets and it's generally accepted by the general public, yet this is considered crazy?

Because of the line break on my Mac, I initially read this as "separating the fart from the artist" and after correcting myself decided it was better the way I first read it.

You're right, this is terrible, because I have it on good authority that the reptilians are ok with the shifting of the energies ...

Joking aside (sorry - wasn't targeted at you, the thought just made me chuckle), I think overall I'd prefer the world to be in a place where we didn't think that the fact of someone's celebrity made their opinion somehow more interesting or special, rather than a place where only people with perfect opinions could be celebrities.

But I also think there is a line somewhere, too, where you'd go "you know what that's so far gone we just can't have that person on TV". Like if one of the things in the list was just outright open racism, then I'd think it'd crossed that line.

I guess overall I see batty conspiracy theories more like something that can be laughed off than, say (Godwin alert), naziism.

Anyways, I think I'm rambling now. I'll stop.

I'm with you. Her "strategy reporting" at the Spanish GP was just repeating the question in a way that makes you think it was answered.

As for Danica, as long as she doesn't start pushing this nonsense on Sky F1 then who cares really? People are allowed to believe what they want. To me personally this is no crazier than believing in a dude sitting on a cloud somewhere but you know, to each their own.

Alright, to add some levity, and because many of the commenters here share my love of IndyCar and WillyP, I'll drop this clip.  In addition to thinking the interview here is a case of pretty girls (much like "serious" men in suits) can talk about anything on the internet and people will probably make a lane, the idea of debunking power has some honorable rabble rousing roots.  But the internet has allowed for so much off the reservation speculation packaged as deep thought that it makes it difficult to know if what we're seeing is incisive, or just nuts, with all the permutations of time wastwd in between.  For some reason all this made me revisit this segment from a Damien Power (Will's brother) comedy sketch:

I can't wait for him to take on the commercial interruptions on Peacock IndyCar broadcasts...

You're the boss, but this doesn't seem Racing Comments material and will soon devolve into that cesspool that is American politics...

Anyway you ask "does she believe in that crap or is giving these people a platform?" You'll find podcasters tend to interview people with similar opinions to them, with few exceptions. If most of her podcast is pure nonsense, you can believe her opinions are not much better.

Again, I don't really disagree.

But I know, people will take celebrities supporting X and Y instead of Z as something more than just a regular person doing it. Even though, they really are just a regular person.

What’s the TLDR on Aaron Rodgers? No does who he is.

Then went full anti-establishment, anti-big pharma, attacked Fauci, vaccines and the NIAID, went on record to claim that he was cured by COVID using invermectin recommended to him by Joe Rogan, and various other things till he made the mistake of insinuating that Jimmy Kimmel's name was in the Epstein diaries, Kimmel absolutely killed him in his next show's monologue, at which point he kind off shut up (or I simply stopped listening to the Macaffee show where he has a 45 min segment every Tuesday).

He is the textbook case of  "better keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt".

As much as I'd love for "it was Aliens" to explain a lot of things that ancient cultures managed to achieve...the actual explanations may be a lot more prosaic and grounded that you might think. In some cases it may just be explainable by the fact that ancient cultures were able to "employ" a lot of manpower or simply employed the geography of the time to their advantage.

In other cases, it's possible that they were using technology that that was very simple, but that they didn't yet understand ( sort of like Honda's 2006 car - it worked great, but Honda couldn't explain why ).

A great example of that would be the stone vases/urns that have been found in Egypt, that in many cases show no signs of having been carved by ordinary tools. But it's possible that they used something similar to a "Browns Gas Generator" to carve them. If used correctly, the generator acts like a blow torch that can melt metal or carve away stone. But that would require an electrical power source - but we have found ancient batteries ( the Baghdad battery for example ) as well as evidence that they had connected multiple batteries together for uses in manufacturing, such as electroplating.

I used to work for the ODA (Overseas Development Administration), the British overseas aid agency.  Imagine my surprise when I read that some fruitcake in the US had decided that the late Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh and husband our late Queen, in fact controlled of the entire world and that ODA was his organisation for managing world affairs.  And I never noticed.   It's enough to make you fall off the edge of the Flat Earth.

Pretty much everyone has some belief or beliefs that are probably very wrong.

I say "pretty much", because I don't.

Hey… we’ve got an election coming up and YOU are in charge after posting the greatest thread of ALL TIME with that Pennsylvania 1600 almost 4 years ago.

Bone up slither boy.

That's where it all started.

It needs to find its way back to Paddock Club. It has no relevance to racing and none of the discussion resolves around it affecting her role as a commentator. Send it back to the hole it slithered out of.

I couldn't disagree more.

On a forum where every single F1 race thread and most of the team ones have been rendered utterly unreadable for the last two or three years by the earnest craziness of fanboyism of all flavours, the only havens of sanity are places such as the IndyCar threads where this sort of mild, humorous diversion is part and parcel of the weekly discourse.

It will come to a natural end in a few days or so, as these things always do.

She might look like be a nuthead, but be honest, everyone who believes in a god or a super universal god-like power, kind of is. It's all about those other 999 gods are false, and my god is the real deal.
