I don’t know… I was not talking about Alonso, I was talking about drivers being in front of an accident. I have no idea how that could be organized.

Which means they would then, instead of heading straight to the pit lane, need to do another lap and drive next to the accident place one more time, delaying the time when marshalls and the medical crew can start working uninterrupted. I really don't think drivers being able to finish their laps should have a priority over this. The accident may be serious.

And it's not any more fair sporting wise either. Some drivers will get to finish their laps while others won't based totally on luck in terms of where they are on track. It's equally unfair as preventing anyone to finish their lap IMO. There will always be an equal number winners and losers in each case, it's unavoidable.

I’ve not seen Alonso’s interview and I don’t understand Spanish anyway so I don’t know the context and actual words spoken regarding the red flag.

 

I had thought he was not happy with the messy situation when he drove into the pit lane after the red flag.

He and Stroll were put into parc ferme by the FIA officials. Alonso had already unbuckled his seat belt and removed his steering wheel but then the FIA officials told him to go and waved them off. It looked quite chaotic. It was a good thing he remembered to get his mechanics to fasten his seat belts before driving off, otherwise he might have been penalized by FIA for driving without seatbelts!

This is a completely black and white situation. If the medical warning light goes off for a crash, it's an instant red flag. Let the medical car race to the scene of the accident without having to worry about anything else.

That’s really good. Takes decisions making time from race control. Obviously they can still red flag in other situations, but it’s a good system.
